‘Suspicious' 17-year-old wielding loaded machine gun arrested in Danville
DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A 17-year-old was arrested Wednesday afternoon after officers saw them walking in the middle of the road with a loaded machine gun in Danville.
According to Terry McCord, Deputy Chief with the Danville Police Department, on June 2 at approximately 4 p.m., officers witnessed the suspect acting 'suspicious' while walking illegally in the middle of the roadway. The juvenile was stopped and found to have a loaded machine gun.

The 17-year-old was then arrested on the following charges in the area of Martin and Normal Streets:
Aggravated unlawful use of a weapon
Possessing a weapon under the age of 21
Unlawful use of a weapon-possession of a machine gun
Obstructing a peace officer
A member of the Danville Police Department Community Housing Unit, with help from the Problem-Oriented Policing Unit and Vermilion County Metropolitan, carried out the arrest. The suspect was then taken to the Vermilion County Juvenile Detention Center and held for a court hearing.
