Turnout skyrocketed this year, highlighting an increase in demand for services.
'We are probably up about 50 individuals that we're feeding, and there are various reasons. Our country is facing difficult times, poverty level continues to climb, and people need a place to rest and food in their stomach,' said Jennie Hagerty, executive director of the Mercy Center for Women. 'It really warms your heart when somebody says thank you, and you know that maybe today might be their only meal. We are here for the community.'
The Mercy Center estimated that around 250 people were served a meal, which is more than twice as many as in 2024.
