BMW Concept Speedtop debuts at Villa d'Este concours

While the new M2 CS made headlines at the 2025 Villa d'Este concours, it was the Concept Speedtop that arguably stole the BMW spotlight. Elevating the Touring (station wagon) format to new heights, the sleek two-door shooting brake, like last year's Concept Skytop, is underpinned by M8 Competition architecture and powered by BMW's formidable 4.4l twin-turbocharged V8 engine. A V-shaped front end, featuring slim headlamps and an illuminated kidney grille, leads into an elongated bonnet marked by a tapering central spine. The design element flows over the roof and ends at a spoiler perched above a sharply raked rear windscreen. With sculpted shoulders, wide rear haunches, bespoke 14-spoke alloy wheels and a roof painted in a shifting gradient from Floating Sunstone Maroon to Floating Sundown Silver, the two-seater Concept Speedtop is visually striking and undeniably distinctive. Inside, the cabin is rich in unique design details, including brogue-style accents on leather-trimmed surfaces. A two-tone colour scheme links exterior and interior themes, pairing Sundown Maroon with light Moonstone White upholstery. The contrast also helps to differentiate functional components from aesthetic ones. The roof spine motif continues inside as a light strip embedded in the leather headliner, offering subtle ambient lighting. The leather-lined trunk features brogue-style perforations and a built-in light beam to emphasise its two-part layout, allowing for the storage of bulkier items. The Concept Speedtop's interior and exterior were crafted with assistance from the BMW Group's Manufactory workshop in Dingolfing, while Italian leather specialist Schedoni supplied custom luggage tailored to match the car's materials and colours. Two dedicated compartments behind the seats house fitted Schedoni bags, with a matching weekend bag stowed in the trunk. BMW has confirmed a limited production run of only 70 units, with pricing expected to start at about R10.4m.

BMW Concept Skytop Teased Ahead Of Debut

BMW has teased its Concept Skytop in India, indicating that this limited-edition two-seater will be released soon. The automaker posted new images on social media, sparking renewed interest in the model after a seven-month pause. The Skytop is inspired by the classic BMW Z8 and 503 and it was first revealed at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. Let's look at the features, powertrain and price of the limited-edition two-seater. BMW Concept Skytop: Exterior The Concept Skytop showcases a distinct shark-nose front and sleek tail lights, inspired by the Z8 roadster. Its carefully designed hood, compact headlights, and flat rear design harken back to classic models from the 1950s. The ultra-slim LED taillights and extremely narrow headlights are noted in the teased photos. Overall, its stance and proportions reflect those of the 8 Series, BMW's flagship model. BMW Concept Skytop: Interior Inside, the Skytop's cabin closely resembles that of the 8 Series, featuring a similar dashboard layout. It includes standard items like a digital instrument display, an infotainment screen, a control stack, and a gear selector. Unique features include a roll bar behind the seats and retractable windows. Its Targa top design allows the two-piece roof to be taken off and stored in the trunk. The interior is dressed in rich reddish-brown leather, preserving a two-seat format. Elegant crystal details and high-quality materials blend the exterior and interior beautifully, especially when the roof is down. BMW Concept Skytop: Powertrain and Performance The heart of the Skytop is a powerful 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that generates 617 hp, similar to the output of the M8 Competition and just below that of the M5 CS. It features an eight-speed automatic transmission, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just under 3.3 seconds. BMW Concept Skytop: Price Like the custom-built BMW 3.0 CSL, the Skytop is produced with a focus on personalization through specialized craftsmanship. The price is set at around €500,000 (approximately Rs 4.61 crore) in international markets, but details about pricing in India are yet to be released.

BMW Concept Skytop teased in India once again. To release soon in limited numbers

The BMW Concept Skytop, a limited-edition two-seater, has been teased over social media again. The BMW Concept Skytop will be released soon in limited numbers. Check Offers BMW India has recently confirmed the introduction of its Concept Skytop in Indian markets in limited numbers. BMW posted images of the Concept Skytop after a hiatus of 7 months, showcasing it to the social media audiences. The BMW Skytop was first showcased at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este and is a two-seater concept based on the BMW Z8 and BMW 503. BMW Concept Skytop: Exterior The Concept Skytop gets a shark-nose front end and thin taillights, which are clearly inspired by the Z8 roadster. The sculpted bonnet design, small headlamps, and the unique flat-decked rear end are reminiscent of the 503 from the 1950s. The rear showcases ultra-slim LED taillights and razor-thin headlamps, described by BMW's design chief Adrian van Hooydonk as the narrowest ever on a BMW production vehicle. However, what the concept majorly embodies is the 8 Series. The stance and proportions are similar to the flagship grand tourer from the Bavarian carmaker. Familiar elements include the digital instrument console, an infotainment screen, a centre stack and a gear selector. What's different is the addition of the unique roll bar behind the seats and the retractable window. Being a Targa top, the two-piece roof can be manually removed and stowed in the boot of the car. The upholstery is reddish-brown, with a brogue-style leather interior. The handcrafted cockpit is designed by BMW's expert saddlery team in Dingolfing, maintaining a two-seat layout. Crystal accents and premium materials seamlessly integrate the exterior and interior, especially when the roof is retracted. Also Read : BMW's electric 2 Series will come as a sedan, not a coupe.
