SunSport first revealed David Gray's interest in the 33-year-old Scotland international last week. 3 Grant Hanley with David Marshall at Easter Road Credit: Kenny Ramsay 3 Grant Hanley trains with Scotland Credit: Kenny Ramsay The defender last night penned a two-year deal and will travel with Gray's squad to Belgrade later today. And that has put him in contention for tomorrow night's Conference League Play-Off with Partizan Belgrade. Gray said: 'It's great to be able to bring Grant to the Club. "He's performed at a top-level throughout his career and has a real desire to compete at the highest level in his home nation. 'He's a strong, robust defender that can play in any role across our back three. 'He's a real leader both on and off the pitch and a player of his experience will add a lot to the team. I look forward to working with him. 'He's a really good character, captain, leader everywhere he's been, and an international football player. "So it just shows you where we are, that we're able to attract that level of calibre of player.' Gray revealed Hanley had been training with former club Norwich to keep fit over the summer. So he'll continue to monitor his condition before making a call on whether to include him tomorrow night. So he's been doing a lot of work with them, which is positive. That keeps him ticking over. 'Again, it's testament to the type of person he is, that he wants to keep himself going, knowing one thing he will do is he'll know his body better than anybody else. "We'll not be throwing him into a situation where he's not ready to do it or taking any chances or risks within that. 'So until it does happen, if it does happen, we'll make sure we're all doing the best we can to get him in as safely, as quickly as we can.' Hanley's arrival will help offset the departure of Lewis Miller, who has joined Blackburn for a seven-figure fee. And Gray hopes the Aussie star's move will help attract further transfer targets to choose Hibs in the future. He said: "I think there's been a lot of positive examples of that. You look at John McGinn, Ryan Porteous, Josh Doig, players that came through, and what that can then lead to and the doors it can open. 3 Grant Hanley won a title with Blackburn Credit: Getty 'Millsy, when he came to the club, always had aspirations to play in England. It's something he talked a lot about and I think he always believed his attributes would lend itself to that. 'He had a lot of work to do, but it shows you the calibre of this club and coming and playing here and what that can do for you. He's a full internationalist now. "There's a lot of players that have done that as well. Rocky Bushiri, now a full internationalist. 'When you're playing at this level, at a high level, for such a big club, international managers notice that as well. "So it's all, I've said it many times, everything's geared up at this football club to be successful on and off the pitch and it's about my job to make sure the performances on the pitch replicate that."
