Libya to Host First National Conference for Global Expatriates

Libya's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdelhadi Al-Hwaij, underlined the importance of full coordination between all departments of the ministry to ensure that diplomatic programs and initiatives are implemented effectively and in line with national priorities. Chairing the ministry's 18th regular meeting on Wednesday, attended by directors of departments and offices, Al-Hwaij reviewed progress on a range of key files and urged participants to maintain efficiency and professionalism in delivering ongoing projects. A main focus of the meeting was the final arrangements for the Conference of Libyan Expatriates, which is scheduled to take place soon. The event aims to strengthen engagement with Libyan communities abroad, deepen their connection to their homeland, and encourage their participation in national development. It will serve as a platform for dialogue, networking, and mobilizing the skills, resources, and influence of the diaspora to benefit Libya's political, economic, and cultural landscape. The minister also discussed preparations for the next edition of the Political Salon, a forum designed to bring together policymakers, intellectuals, and civil society representatives to exchange views on Libya's political and development priorities. Al-Hwaij emphasized that such platforms are essential for fostering open debate, promoting constructive solutions, and enhancing Libya's image internationally. He stressed that engaging Libyans abroad is not just a matter of cultural outreach but a strategic necessity for development and diplomacy. The ministry, he said, is committed to creating channels for sustained communication, building partnerships with expatriate communities, and ensuring they have opportunities to contribute directly to the country's future. Concluding the meeting, Al-Hwaij called on all relevant departments to finalize the logistical, administrative, and media arrangements for the upcoming events, noting that their success would reflect Libya's commitment to unity, dialogue, and international cooperation.
