Harish Rao accuses CM Revanth of avoiding ‘Jai Telangana' slogan; alleges conspiracy against state
HYDERABAD: Former minister and BRS MLA T Harish Rao has accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of being reluctant to raise the 'Jai Telangana' slogan, while actors like Allu Arjun and Nandamuri Balakrishna do so without hesitation. 'Revanth Reddy chants the name of former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao even in his sleep, and never misses a chance to mention the BRS chief during public meetings,' Harish Rao remarked. Addressing a BRS Vidyarthi wing meeting in Uppal on Saturday, Harish Rao accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi, AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Revanth Reddy of hatching a conspiracy to undermine the interests of Telangana. 'It is our collective responsibility to expose and resist this conspiracy,' he said. He alleged that Revanth Reddy was diverting funds to Delhi and Andhra Pradesh. He alleged that during the Telangana movement, while BRS MPs, MLAs, and MLCs had resigned in support of a separate state, only BJP leader Kishan Reddy and Congress leader Revanth Reddy failed to do so. 'Revanth Reddy merely submitted a photocopy of his resignation,' he claimed. Harish Rao said that after the formation of Telangana, KCR gave key positions to student leaders who had played a pivotal role in the second phase of the statehood movement. He added that when officials brought up allegations of corruption in Congress-era schemes, KCR had responded by prioritising development over political vendetta.

Collapsed Kaleshwaram cannot be compared with Congress-era Nagarjunasagar, Srisailam: CM Revanth
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said there was no comparison between the irrigation projects built by the BRS, which 'collapsed' within three years, and the irrigation projects built by the Congress which continue to serve Telangana for the last 60 years. Calling the Kaleshwaram project a 'white elephant', he asked: 'How can Kaleshwaram, built at a cost of ₹1 lakh crore and collapsed within three years, be compared to Congress-era projects like Nagarjunasagar, Srisailam, SRSP and Jurala which still stand strong?' He was addressing a public meeting at Tungaturthy on Monday. Reiterating that the Congress flag will fly high for the next 10 years in Telangana, he said people should not have any doubts about it, and he appealed to the Congress workers to ensure a landslide victory in the upcoming local body elections. Fine rice scheme and ration cards are game changers and the women folk are with the party, he said, exuding confidence that the party would sweep the forthcoming local body elections. He also highlighted Telangana's historic achievements under Congress rule, such as conducting the first caste census in 100 years, pushing for 42% BC reservations in local bodies, SC reservations classification and striving to make Telangana a $1 trillion economy. The Chief Minister also pointed out the contrast between the BRS era, marked by liquor belt shops in villages, and the Congress government, under which people now queue up to receive ration cards. 'Ration cards are a matter of self-respect for the poor,' he asserted.

Unfortunate that rape cases are being politicised, this cannot be tolerated: Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan
New Delhi [India], June 30 (ANI): Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan condemned the alleged gang rape of a law student in Kolkata and said that such cases were being politicised and this cannot be tolerated. This comes amid mounting protests by several political parties over the incident. Ranjeet Ranjan said, 'In any state, whether it is our government or the BJP government, if there is harassment against women, then it is absolutely condemnable and it should not be tolerated in any situation. We went to Odisha and in a week there were cases of gang rapes in three different places. Whether it is Odisha or West Bengal, there should be no attempt to protect anyone, and it is unfortunate that everywhere it is politicised and as a woman, this cannot be tolerated.' Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kunal Ghosh on Sunday hit back at Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's remarks against the TMC government, asserting that the state remains one of the 'safest places for women' in the country. Responding to Pradhan's demand to 'free' West Bengal from TMC rule, Ghosh accused the Union Minister of ignoring atrocities against women in BJP-ruled states. 'Tell Dharmendra Pradhan to talk about crimes against women in places like Unnao, Hathras, Prayagraj, and Delhi first... Police take action in West Bengal. Social crimes have lessened in the state. This is the safest state for women,' the TMC leader said. The remarks came hours after Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan alleged that West Bengal under TMC rule was facing a governance crisis similar to the Emergency imposed in 1975. Drawing a parallel, Pradhan said the TMC was carrying forward the legacy of the Congress-era Emergency by eroding constitutional values. '50 years ago, an Emergency was declared to dismantle, tear apart, and disregard the country's Constitution... It is disheartening that the party carrying forward that Congress culture is the Trinamool Congress. It has not yet overcome that mindset,' Pradhan said during a press conference. Meanwhile, Kalyan Banerjee in the latest row said, 'Yes, incidents do happen. Not all men are like this, but some have a perverted mindset. These perverted men then come out on the streets, hold protests and demand the death penalty.' On June 25, a female student was allegedly gang-raped inside the South Calcutta Law College in Kolkata's Kasba area. The police have arrested four persons, including the main accused Manojit Mishra, and formed a five-member Special team to investigate the incident. (ANI)

"Safest state for women": TMC's Kunal Ghosh amid protests over gang rape row
Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], June 30 (ANI): Amid mounting protests over recent gang rape cases in West Bengal, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kunal Ghosh on Sunday hit back at Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's remarks against the TMC government, asserting that the state remains one of the 'safest places for women' in the country. He slammed the Mamata Banerjee-led government for presiding over a 'dangerous mindset' that, he claimed, is undermining the educational and social foundations of the state. 'Bengal has been a laboratory for women's progress for many years... Whether it is RG Kar Medical College or a law college, it reflects their mindset, even though the head of the ruling party is a woman. What kind of statements are coming from their leaders? This is a very dangerous mindset in a republic,' Pradhan said. The BJP Lok Sabha MP's remarks come amidst ongoing protests and political turmoil in West Bengal following the gang rape of a law student at South Calcutta Law College on June 25, as well as the earlier rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College in August 2024, which had fuelled public outrage and drawn sharp criticism of the TMC's handling of law and order in the state. The Union Minister emphasised the state government's responsibility for campus security, a point of contention as the TMC and opposition parties clash over accountability. 'Security (of educational campuses) is the responsibility of the state government... Bengal used to be the centre of education. Now it needs to be freed from TMC,' he asserted. Meanwhile, Kalyan Banerjee in the latest row said, 'Yes, incidents do happen. Not all men are like this, but some have a perverted mindset. These perverted men then come out on the streets, hold protests and demand the death penalty.' (ANI)

Will quit politics if CM Revanth Reddy proves KLIS did not get cabinet nod, says BJP MP Eatala Rajender; demands CBI probe, slams Congress over HYDRAA
BJP MP Eatala Rajender HYDERABAD: BJP MP and former minister Eatala Rajender said he is willing to retire from politics if chief minister A Revanth Reddy can prove that the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project was initiated without cabinet approval during the former BRS regime. Speaking at a press conference at the state BJP headquarters, Eatala said he was making the statement not as a BJP leader, but as a former minister who was part of the decision-making apparatus. "No major project like Kaleshwaram can move forward without cabinet clearance," he asserted, citing former CM K Chandrasekhar Rao's own principle that even minor departmental matters required cabinet discussion. "If my claim is proven false, I will step away from politics," he said, throwing the gauntlet at the Congress govt. Eatala reminded that Kaleshwaram evolved from the Congress-era Pranahita-Chevella project, which was part of the Jalayagnam scheme. "Only three new components-Annaram, Sundilla, and Medigadda-were added to it," he said, countering the narrative that the BRS launched an entirely new project. He voiced skepticism about the implementation of the Kaleshwaram commission report, and demanded a CBI probe into alleged corruption in the project. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 임플란트, 지금 시작하세요 [자세히 보기] 임플란트 더 알아보기 Undo "If the Congress is serious about action, let it prove it by moving forward on the report," he said, calling attention to urgent concerns like Medigadda barrage's structural issues and the need to restore water flow. Clarifying his party's stand, he said, "The BJP is not against irrigation or infrastructure projects. What we oppose is their misuse for financial exploitation." As part of the BJP's campaign marking Prime Minister Modi's 11 years in office, Eatala announced a public meeting in Malkajgiri on June 22. An exhibition on Modi's governance, along with a showcase of development work in Malkajgiri over the past year, will begin this Friday. Union ministers Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay, and Telangana BJP in-charge Sunil Bansal are expected to attend. Eatala also launched a sharp attack on the Congress govt in the state, saying, "This is not a govt that builds homes-it demolishes them. Under the guise of HYDRAA, they are spreading fear among the poor." He compared the political shift from BRS to Congress as "jumping from the frying pan into the fire."
