PNP officials visit wake of Cebu cop killed while responding to alarm
Police officials from Camp Crame in Metro Manila visited the wake of a policeman who was shot dead while responding to an armed-person alarm in Danao City, north Cebu.
Police Major General Constancio Chinayog Jr., directorate for Personnel and Records Management of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Atty. Rafael Vicente Calinisan, commissioner, vice chairman and executive officer of the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM); and Police Brigadier General Jonas Amparo, director of the PNP Retirement and Benefits Administration Service condoled with the family in Tabogon town, northern Cebu.
Patrolman Mark Ornopia was shot dead by a suspect who grabbed the firearm of a security guard of a remittance center in Danao City.
Ornopia's family received the "Medalya ng Kadakilaan" and other forms of assistance from the PNP.
Cebu Police Provincial Office Director Colonel Jovito Atanacio also joined the officials from the central office.
The Medalya ng Kadakilaan (Medal of Heroism) is a PNP award given for acts of heroism and bravery above and beyond the call of duty.
