UMass Amherst creates fund to help support research community
AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – UMass Amherst has announced the establishment of a new 'Research Continuity Emergency Matching Fund.'
This will provide a one-to-one match for funds that faculty put towards keeping the school's research community running.
In a statement, the university's senior vice chancellor for academic affairs said that the matching fund intends to support community members whose livelihoods are put at risk by the interruption of federal funding.
This includes graduate students, research staff, and research faculty whose salaries come from federal grants and contracts.
