Music Legend, 80, Divides Fans With Bold Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne — 'Terrible and Corny'
Music Legend, 80, Divides Fans With Bold Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne — 'Terrible and Corny' originally appeared on Parade. Rod Stewart paid tribute to the late during his One Last Time tour — but his gesture has sparked mixed reactions from fans. The 80-year-old music icon dedicated a portion of his show to honor the legendary Black Sabbath frontman following his recent tragic passing. What started as a touching memorial has some fans calling it "terrible and corny," while others defend Stewart's approach to honoring his friend. The controversy began when Stewart dedicated his classic hit "Forever Young" to Osbourne following his death on July 22. Initially, the tribute featured projections of Osbourne during the emotional ballad. However, everything reportedly changed during Stewart's concert at the Ameris Bank Amphitheater outside Atlanta on Friday, August 1. According to NME, while the performance began with standard photos of Osbourne, the visuals quickly evolved into AI-generated images. These artificial photos appeared showing Osbourne alongside deceased music legends Prince, Tina Turner, Bob Marley, Freddie Mercury, , George Michael and Amy Winehouse, all positioned against cloudy backdrops suggesting a heavenly reunion. Concertgoers took to social media to share their responses, with many questioning Stewart's decision to use artificial intelligence for such a personal tribute. One fan wrote under a video of the performance, "Good idea: pay tribute to Ozzy and his friends in heaven. Bad Idea: Making an AI-generated video with his dead friends/members." The criticism didn't stop there. Another viewer bluntly stated, "AI content is NOT a good thing," and another added, "It's terrible and corny.' However, not everyone condemned Stewart's creative choice. Some fans offered a different perspective, suggesting the tribute represented the singer's personal way of processing grief. "If this is Rod's way of showing respect to those people that passed away that's his way. Everyone is gonna show respect their own way everyone is different everyone isn't gonna do it the same way," one supporter wrote. After Osbourne's death was announced, Stewart posted on Instagram to pay his respects. "Bye, bye Ozzy. I'll see you up there— later rather than sooner," he captioned the photo. As Stewart's One Last Time tour continues across the United States through early October before heading to Europe, fans remain divided on his tribute choice. The singer has yet to address the controversy surrounding the AI-generated visuals, leaving audiences to speculate whether he'll modify the tribute or continue with his current version. Shubman Gill says pitch exchange with groundsman was ‘absolutely unnecessary'
India captain Shubman Gill has branded the intervention of Surrey's chief groundsman Lee Fortis 'absolutely unnecessary' ahead of his side's final Test against England. Fortis, the England and Wales Cricket Board's ground manager of the year for the past three seasons, was involved in a heated exchange with India's head coach Gautam Gambhir as the tourists netted at the Kia Oval on Tuesday. Tempers frayed with Fortis seemingly concerned about potential damage to the square and Gambhir clearly riled by the incident. The episode was in keeping with an increasingly bad-tempered series, with several flare-ups at Lord's and Old Trafford. 'As a captain, I don't know what it was all about. If a pitch creator is going to come and ask us to not look at the wicket or look at it from three metres behind, that is not something that has happened to us before,' he said. 'As long as I can remember there is no such instruction. If you are wearing rubber spikes or you are bare foot, I think you can see the wicket closely. 'What happened yesterday, I thought, is just absolutely unnecessary. A coach has every right to be able to go close quarters and have a look at the wicket.' There was no repeat of the spat as India netted on the eve of the match, though Fortis was patrolling the pitch and spoke to members of the coaching staff as they assessed a green-tinged surface that is expected to offer early assistance for the seamers. Gill had no qualms about the tetchy exchanges between the rival teams, which have encompassed rows over time-wasting, aggressive send-offs and England's annoyance over India's refusal to shake hands on an early draw in Manchester. 'I think the relations are fantastic but when you are on the field, you are trying to win a game at the end of the day,' he said. 'Both the teams have been very competitive and sometimes when you are competitive, in the heat of the moment, you do or say things that you might not do (normally). I think once the match is over, there is mutual respect between both the teams.' India are waiting until the toss to name their team but they are expected to resist the temptation to play star bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who has played three Tests he was initially earmarked for. That could mean a debut for left-armer Arshdeep Singh, while wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav may also come into consideration as the tourists seek to draw the series 2-2.

Hundreds attend concert for MAGA-affiliated musician at Toronto church after Vaughan denies permit
Controversial Christian rocker Sean Feucht, known for his affiliation with the MAGA movement, performed at an Etobicoke church packed with hundreds of attendees on Sunday. The concert was originally scheduled to be played in Vaughan's Dufferin District Park. The city denied the show's permit request on the grounds of "health and safety, as well as community standards and well-being." Feucht, who unsuccessfully ran for U.S. Congress as a Republican in 2020, is also a missionary and an author who has spoken out against the 2SLGBTQ+ community, abortion rights and critical race theory. Feucht told the audience on Sunday that he was "disturbed" by the backlash from municipalities on the first leg of his tour, but that he'll continue to exercise his rights and freedoms. Several municipalities, including Vaughan, Gatineau, Que. ,and Montreal, have refused permits due to concerns with public safety. A spokesperson from the Montreal mayor's office said the show "goes against the values of inclusion, solidarity and respect." "The place where I got the biggest persecution and resistance was in Canada. That's wild. Not Iraq or Turkey, but Canada," Feucht told the audience on Sunday. He said the tour has been a trending topic on social media, which has brought more awareness to the movement. "More cameras, more news outlets, everyone is talking about worship in Canada. It's provoking a national dialogue," he said The event's attendees came in from across the Greater Toronto Area and as far as Cambridge, Ont., with some saying they were there to support the cause after hearing of the cancellations. Feucht's "brand of Christianity" is worrying given how it is being politicized and is exclusive, instead of being inclusive of all people, said Deana Dudley, a reverend at the Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto (MCC). MAGA-affiliated musician's Canadian concert permits denied 4 days ago American musician Sean Feucht has had multiple event permits for his Canadian concert tour denied or revoked by cities and Parks Canada, as some oppose his affiliation with the MAGA political movement. Dudley said it was upsetting to see Feucht claim "persecution" of Christians over the denied permits. Government-owned public venues don't always allow religious events to take place there and the MCC has also been denied permissions for that reason, she said. "If he wants to talk about persecution, he should talk to some of the LGBTQ+ refugees that we work with, who have had to flee their home countries," she said. Dudley said her interpretation of Christianity believes God has "unconditional love for all people," while Feucht's controversial stances make the religion feel exclusive for those who agree with those beliefs. It's important to protect people's constitutional rights of freedom of expression and religion, no matter their stance or controversial opinions, said Christine Van Geyn, litigation director at the Canadian Constitution Foundation. "The government doesn't get to pick and choose, except in very, very high and exceptional cases," she said. Instead of shutting down an event, Van Geyn said people should engage with it to share their views and, if possible, protest. By censoring an event, a movement is able to gain notoriety and even more attention, she warned. "This performer has become a martyr for a cause," she said. "That's the reason we're having this conversation. That's the reason everyone knows this performer's name is because of the attempts to silence." The City of Toronto said in a written statement that a permit was not necessary for the event on Sunday as it was held on private property.

Malaysia lashes out at Trump's pick of ‘Zionist' envoy Nick Adams: ‘not welcome here'
The Trump administration's selection of Nick Adams , a self-styled 'Alpha Male' author and social media provocateur, as the next US ambassador to Malaysia has triggered outrage in the Muslim-majority nation, with critics questioning the motives behind the decision. Advertisement Washington announced on Thursday that Adams, who has a history of inflammatory remarks, had been selected for the diplomatic post. The decision has prompted alarm among diplomats and Southeast Asian observers, many of whom see President Donald Trump 's choice as prioritising political loyalty over diplomatic expertise. Adams, a naturalised American and former member of Australia 's Liberal Party before immigrating to the United States in 2012, has regularly courted controversy with his misogynistic remarks, Islamophobic tirades – such as the claim that Trump's opponents sought to 'teach Islam in schools' – and vocal support of Israel Members of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim 's ruling coalition have decried Adams's appointment as an 'insult' to the Muslim-majority country, especially its decades of support for Palestinian rights. Nick Adams is not a diplomat, not a statesman. He is merely an extreme right-wing propagandist Mus'ab Muzahar, Amanah official 'Nick Adams is not a diplomat, not a statesman. He is merely an extreme right-wing propagandist, a Trumpist and vocal supporter of Israel's Zionist regime,' said Mus'ab Muzahar, an official from moderate Islamist party Amanah, part of the ruling Pakatan Harapan coalition. Pentagon's Flag Day post causes stir, did it mix between US and Russian flags?
ALBAWABA - A post was shared on the X platform by the Pentagon has caused wide controversy on social media after people accused it of mixing the American flag and the Russian flag. The buzz began when the American Department of Defense posted on X to celebrate the US Flag Day and wrote a caption: "Happy Flag Day! Let us honor the emblem of our nation and the stars and stripes that unite us all." The post also read: "As we display our nations flag and reflect on the values it represents, let's celebrate the freedom, courage and resilience that makes our country great." (Photo shared by the American Department of Defense on X to mark Flag Day) However, in the photo below, it read "Flag Day" with the American flag on the side, while on the two sides surrounding the sentence, people claimed that the department mistakenly added two Russian flags. Meanwhile, despite the fuss regarding the photo shared by the American Department of Defense, some people defended it by saying the colors that were said to resemble the Russian flag are nothing but two dashes in the colors of the American flag (red, while and blue). Many asked people not to overanalyse or exaggerate some things, and said this is nothing but a "silly design mistake".
