Distribution of ration goods at doorsteps begins in Virudhunagar district
Revenue Minister K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran, and Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu, inaugurated the Chief Minister's Thayumanavar scheme by handing over ration goods to senior citizens and differently-abled persons at their doorsteps, on Tuesday.
Virudhunagar Collector, N.O. Sukhaputra, accompanied Mr. Ramachandran, to the houses of the beneficiaries in China Puliyampatti, Gandhi Maidan and Nehru Maidan areas in Aruppukottai town. Mr. Thennarasu distributed the goods in A. Mukkulam and Ezhuvani areas in Narikudi union, in the presence of District Revenue Officer, R. Rajendran.
Under the scheme, a total of 49,716 ration card holders would benefit. The goods, including rice and sugar would be delivered at the doorsteps on second Saturdays and Sundays through 822 vehicles.
The details of the eligible cardholders have been sent through the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation to the field officers. The vehicles would have e-Point of Sale equipment.
Regional Joint Director of Cooperative Soceities, P. Sentilkumar, District Supply Officer, Udhayasankar, were present.
