A small, rewarding slice of D.C.'s legendary Corcoran art collection
Although it encompasses only 11 paintings, 'Alone, Together: Viewpoints From the Corcoran Legacy Collection' does invite multiple perspectives. The artworks in the American University Museum exhibition fit together neatly in several ways, stylistic as well as thematic.
This is the fourth show in a series, begun in 2019, in which the university's curatorial practice students explore works from the erstwhile Corcoran Gallery of Art. American's museum received nearly 9,000 objects from the Corcoran four years after its 2014 closure. The current show was selected by 15 students, some of whom share their thoughts on the works in a brochure.
