Two Hybrid LeT Terrorists Apprehended In Shopian District. In a major operational success, police on Thursday said that two hybrid terrorists affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were arrested during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) launched at Baskuchan area of south Kashmir's Shopian district by SOG Shopian in coordination with 44 RR and 178 Bn CRPF following specific input, officials said. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections and further investigation is underway. The area was effectively cordoned, and movement of terrorists was observed in a nearby orchard. Swift and strategic action by the forces led to the successful surrender of two LeT hybrid terrorists—Irfan Bashir and Uzair Salam—averting a potential encounter, police said. Significant recoveries include: 02 AK-56 rifles 04 magazines 102 rounds (7.62×39mm) 02 hand grenades 02 pouches ₹5400 in cash 01 mobile phone 01 smartwatch 02 biscuit packets 01 Aadhaar card FIR has been registered under relevant sections, and investigation is underway. Five terrorists tasked with important roles in the Pakistan-based terror groups, Jash-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, were killed in the initial phase of Operation Sindoor when Indian forces struck terror camps deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK) in the early morning of May 7. India also eliminated more than 100 terrorists after it struck nine terror launch pads.

Ludhiana: Eight peddlers nabbed, drugs seized; 5 booked
The Ludhiana police commissionerate carried out a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) early on Friday morning at EWS Colony on Tajpur Road— a known drug hotspot. The operation led to the arrest of eight drug peddlers and recovery of narcotics and illegal pharmaceutical drugs. Five fresh FIRs have been registered. According to top police, the operation was based on specific intelligence inputs and targeted 10 known drug smugglers, all of whom collectively face over 40 FIRs. Commissioner of police Swapan Sharma said, 'We are no longer conducting random checks. Our focus is on intelligence-based targeted action. The aim is to uproot the drug menace from its core. Today's operation in EWS Colony, which is home to several habitual offenders, is part of that strategic approach.' Division Number 7 police nabbed Ajay alias Sunny and Deepak, both residents of Jawahar Nagar, and recovered 27 grams of heroin from them. In a separate case, Sneha alias Beetu, a resident of EWS Colony, was found in possession of a large quantity of pharmaceutical drugs, including 70 alprazolam tablets and 450 Snospas tablets, along with empty strips of Prega and Brufen capsules, indicating illegal distribution. Another accused, Mohammad Sabir of Baba Namdev Colony in the Tibba area, was arrested with 30 grams of heroin. Additionally, Jatinder Kumar from Ram Nagar, Bhamian Kalan, was caught with 0.20 grams of heroin. 'All those arrested were on our radar for a long time. With more than 40 FIRs filed against this group of 10, the scale of their involvement in drug trafficking is extensive,' said the commissioner. 'The city police will continue to act relentlessly against such offenders.'

Top LeT commander among 3 terrorists killed
Srinagar: In a major success for the joint forces in Jammu and Kashmir, the operational chief commander of terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), is among the three terrorists killed in a gunfight on Tuesday in Shopian district. Police said that the operational Chief Commander of LeT, Shahid Kuttay, is among the three terrorists killed in today's encounter in Shukroo Keller area of Shopian. Shahid Kuttay of Chotipora Heerpora village in Shopian was one of the most wanted terrorists who joined terror ranks on March 8, 2023 and was involved in many terror-related cases. "He was involved in the firing incident of the Danish resort on April 8, 2024, in which two German tourists and the driver were injured. He was also involved in killing of a BJP Sarpanch and TA personnel at Beighbagh Kulgam. "Second terrorist has been identified as Adnan Shafi Dar son of Mohd Shafi Dar resident of Wanduna Melhora. Identity of third one is being ascertained," police said. Three terrorists were killed in a gunfight with the joint forces in Keller area of Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district. V. K. During the operation, terrorists opened heavy fire, and fierce firefight ensued, which resulted in the elimination of three hardcore terrorists, it added. "Operation is in progress," the Indian Army said. This is the second terrorist act in Jammu and Kashmir after the ceasefire understanding between Indian and Pakistan on May 11.

The Indian Army, in a statement, said that based on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists in Shoekal Keller, a search and destroy Operation was launched. Security forces continue to remain on alert across Jammu and Kashmir as the Pakistan Army had violated the ceasefire understanding on Saturday, even after the two countries announced cessation of all hostilities on land, air and sea. Police have advised hundreds of residents of border areas along the LoC and the IB not to hurry back home for now, till the situation is fully calm.
