Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo
An Opel Corsa GSE concept car for Gran Turismo previews a radical future supermini from the Stellantis group. The Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo concept represents a new and radical styling direction for Opel. It will turn up in the metal at the Munich Motor Show in September. Shortly thereafter, Gran Turismo gamers can race with it in the virtual world. This previews what the Corsa supermini of 2027 will look like. Well, more like the high-performance GSE version really. The concept is a three-door hatchback, with plenty of out-there design elements. There are staggered 21- and 22-inch wheels mounted within huge wheelarches. At the rear these are just regular exaggerated haunches. But up front they are separate from the body as 'spats' finished in a contrasting black colour. The 'Vizor' design signature is present at the front, complete with new lighting, creating a cruciform design. Being a concept car there are oversized air intakes and a bonnet vent, both finished in a contrasting yellow. Out the back are an enormous roof-mounted wing and rear diffuser, also yellow. Both are movable, extending to enhance aerodynamics at speed. Otherwise, the rear features a simple glazed tail that integrates an illuminated badge and a lightbar. Peer inside and there's pushrod Bilstein suspension for the rear axle. Moreover, there's a yoke-style racing wheel but no real interface. Instead, a head-up display and back-lit fabrics cover those off. Bucket seats comprise a squab mounted to the floor and a top section attached to the roof. The show car comes with two 300kW motors, one for each axle, delivering 600kW in total and 800Nm of torque. They draw power from an 82kWh battery pack. Unbelievably, the concept car weighs in at just 1170kg, and the claimed sprint time is 2sec. Its top speed is evidently just under 320km/h. The show car utilises the new SLTA-S platform, underpinning a range of Stellantis superminis and SUVs from next year. Expect a hot GSE version at some point, though a single motor, FWD layout is more likely than the concept's dual-motor set-up. The new Corsa won't show up for real until 2027.

But while most concept cars are bizarre and, in some cases, a little silly, this one truly serves as a vision of the all-new Vauxhall Corsa supermini that's due to arrive in 2027. This bold look is simply the car's potential high-performance GSE iteration and takes the form of a three-door hatchback with quite a few extravagant design elements. That includes staggered 21 and 22-inch wheels within huge wheelarches and the 'Vizor' design at the front, as well as new lighting to create a cross-like design. Naturally, for a souped up concept design, there's also an outrageous air intake and bonnet vent, as well as a roof-mounted wing and enormous rear diffuser. The rear sees a clean and simple glazed tail that leads into an illuminated Vauxhall badge and a lightbar. The cabin is also rather futuristic and purely conceptual, with a yoke-style steering wheel and a head-up display, including back-lit fabrics for driver information such as blind-spot warnings. Powered by electric, of course, the concept boasts impressive performance details with two electric motors - each producing 400bhp - to combine for 800bhp and 800Nm of torque. It's also extremely lightweight at 1,170kg, enabling acceleration from 0 to 62mph in just two seconds with an eye-popping top speed of 199mph. The new Vauxhall electric Mokka GSE has some serious rally vibes… and it's closely related to speedy GTI Mark Adams, Vauxhall's chief designer, explained the concept's role in introducing the GSE brand. He told Auto Express: 'We wanted to build this because introducing the GSE brand in the right way, it was important to put the vision here first. 'But it then happens that following hot on the heels of this is a real first production car. "It's not exactly the same as this, but then it's the first of several to come.' While the dual-motor layout is purely conceptual, the car uses the Stellantis SLTA-S platform, set to underpin superminis and SUVs. A production GSE Corsa is expected - but will likely feature a single-motor front-wheel-drive layout, much like its label-mate the Peugeot 208 GTi.

Vauxhall's new all-electric 800hp sports available for test drive in Gran Turismo 7
British brand Vauxhall is taking its all-electric GSE performance sub-brand to a new level, revealing the radical Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo – a fully electric concept car boasting 800hp, a 0-62mph time of just two seconds and a top speed of 199mph. The car, which premieres at the IAA Mobility show in Munich on 8 September, will also have a digital debut in PS5 racing sim Gran Turismo 7 this autumn, in what Vauxhall boldly calls a 'phygital' launch. 'The Vauxhall Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo takes the GSE sub-brand to the next level,' said Steve Catlin, managing director at Vauxhall. 'It not only shows what is possible on a small car platform, it also displays a clear view to the future.' At the core of the concept is a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive electric powertrain delivering a combined 800hp and 800Nm of torque. A boost function provides an additional 80hp for up to four seconds to aid overtaking on track. Vauxhall had hinted that the concept has an eye on racing, saying it 'will be very much at home on the racing track and offer a thrilling yet comfortable and safe driving experience'. The concept was created by Vauxhall's design team at the Opel headquarters in Germany, led by Brit Mark Adams, Vauxhall and Opel's Vice-President of Design. Adams has been heading up Vauxhall design for over two decades, and his team was also responsible for Vauxhall/Opel's last show car, the Vauxhall Experimental, which appeared at the Munich Motor Show in 2023. While that car was purely a concept previewing the latest design themes across Vauxhall's model range, this latest concept is taking that on further and could preview a production GSE model that we see sometime in 2026.
