But, as one of the five pillars of Islam, it is also obligatory for Muslims to fulfil their Zakat (charity) before the end of the Holy Al Fitr is intended to purify one's fast and enable the less fortunate to celebrate Eid with dignity. They have donation booths at several locations that take debit or credit card payments; alternatively, people can donate via the website's e-donation Emirates Red Crescent accepts various Ramadan donations, including Zakat Al Fitr which can be paid directly through their website or at Emirates Red Crescent pop-ups in malls, petrol stations and City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) has launched the "Your Zakat to Support Our Education" campaign, aiming to raise Dh11 million for 479 students with disabilities. They allow transfers via bank transfer or SMS Big Heart Foundation (TBHF) supports global causes, including education, healthcare and humanitarian aid. They accept donations made directly via their 1 billion Meals Initiative aims to eradicate hunger through a sustainable food aid endowment. They accept one-time donations for Eid Al Fitr, but also collect monthly donations. The deadline for Zakat Al Fitr payments is before the Eid Al Fitr prayers.

The payment will benefit at least two poor individuals. Additionally, the council has set expiation amounts for those who miss their fasts for different reasons. For individuals who intentionally break their fast, the atonement is Dh15 per person for a total of 60 poor people, amounting to Dh900. Alternatively, they can choose to feed 3.25kg of wheat to each person. For those unable to fast due to illness or other conditions, the expiation is set at Dh15 per person for each day missed. As with the previous category, those wishing to feed instead of paying will be required to provide 3.25kg of wheat for each missed fast. In cases where a person dies having missed obligatory fasts, their relatives are required to pay on their behalf. The expiation for each missed fast is Dh15 or 3.25kg of wheat for each day missed. For individuals who delay making up missed fasts without a valid excuse, the council has set the payment at Dh15 per day missed, or the option to feed 3.25kg of wheat per person. Finally, those who take a false oath during Ramadan are required to pay Dh15 to ten poor people, totaling Dh150. Alternatively, they may choose to feed 3.25kg of wheat to each individual.

It is obligatory on all Muslims - men, women, the young and the old - who are able to give Zakat financially or in the form of food. The council also set the expiation amounts for individuals who miss fasts under different situations. These are: People who break fast intentionally: Those who break their fast intentionally must pay Dh15 for per person, for sixty poor people in total. This totals to a value of Dh900. For those who wish to feed instead of payment, a value of 3.25kg of wheat has been set for each person. People who are unable to fast: Those who are unable to fast must pay Dh15 per person, for each day missed. For those who wish to feed instead of payment, a value of 3.25kg of wheat has been set for each person. If someone dies while having missed fasts: If a person dies and there were obligatory fasting days that they missed, the expiation is set at either feeding with a value of 3.25kg for each day or pay Dh15. It must be paid on their behalf by closed ones. People who delay making up missed fasts: Those who delay making up for a missed fast without any excuse must pay Dh15 per person, for each day missed. For those who wish to feed instead of payment, a value of 3.25kg of wheat has been set for each person. If someone takes an oath during Ramadan: If someone taken an oath while fasting and knows it is not true then they must pay Dh15 to ten poor people, totalling to Dh150. A value of 3.25kg of wheat has been set for each person to be fed.

The UAE has called on people in the country to look out for and report sightings of the Ramadan crescent moon on Friday. The UAE Council for Fatwa has called on all members of the community, both citizens and residents, to watch for the crescent moon of Ramadan 1446 AH on the evening of Friday, 29 Sha'ban 1446 AH, corresponding to February 28, 2025. The Ramadan Crescent Moon Sighting Committee, formed under the Council for Fatwa and responsible for moon sighting in the United Arab Emirates, invites anyone who spots the crescent moon to report their sighting by calling 027774647 or via this link.
