More Than 17,800 Ice Cream Cartons Recalled Due to Plastic Contamination—Here's What to Know
More than 17,800 cartons of ice cream and frozen yogurt were recalled after plastic pieces were found in the product. The ice cream was sold in Texas, Iowa, Illinois, Wyoming, and you recently bought ice cream or frozen yogurt at the grocery store, check the label before consuming it. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a recall of more than 17,800 cartons of ice cream due to the presence of plastic pieces in the product. The recall was initiated on April 25, 2025, by Wells Enterprises, Inc., based in Le Mars, Iowa. It includes 22 flavors of ice cream and frozen yogurt packaged in 3-gallon cartons. The recalled products were available at 103 centers nationwide, including Fort Worth, Texas; Houston, Texas; Le Mars, Iowa; Rosemont, Illinois; Wyoming; and Michigan. On May 14, 2025, the FDA classified the recall as a Class II threat, which is "a situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote." So far, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall. If you purchased the recalled products, do not eat them. Dispose of them immediately or return them to the place of purchase for a refund. The affected products have "Best If Used By" dates from March 2026 through October 2025 printed on the packaging. Popular Ice Cream Brand Recalls Thousands of Tubs Over Potential Safety Hazard
Wells Enterprises, which owns popular dessert brands Blue Bunny and Halo Top, has announced a recall of 22 ice cream and frozen yogurt products. The manufacturer is recalling almost 18,000 containers of product, stating, "Foreign material (plastic) may be present in ice cream product." The recent Food and Drug Administration report stated that Wells Enterprises issued the voluntary recall back in April. The affected products were sent to more than 100 distribution centers across the U.S., including Iowa, Michigan, Texas, and Illinois locations. Listing this as a Class II recall, the FDA website says that consuming the contaminated product has "temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences." Nationwide ice cream recall over plastic pieces

Wells Enterprises, Inc. is recalling more than 16,000 gallons of its ice cream and frozen yogurt products due to potential contamination with plastic, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
