2025 AMAs Appearance by Polarizing YouTuber Sparks Instant Backlash: 'Seriously?'
Last night (May 26), the 51st Annual American Music Awards — hosted by Jennifer Lopez — took place at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada. On the surface, the night was seemingly smooth sailing, but an award show would be nothing without a splash of drama... The 2025 AMAs were no exception. While all of our favorite artists, actors, reality television personalities and more were in attendance at the 2025 AMAs, representing the social media world were individuals like Tara Yummy, Alix Earle, Ben Almeida and more. Also representing the social media world was one controversial character, James Charles, causing quite a bit of backlash from the moment he walked the red — or should we say purple? — carpet. For those who need a refresher, James first achieved notoriety for being a young, male makeup artist, with his makeup tutorials gaining quite a bit of traction via YouTube. With his newfound social media stardom, the New York native went on to become the first male brand ambassador for CoverGirl, launch his own makeup line, Painted, and more. While he has achieved a great deal of success throughout his time in the limelight, James has also found himself in quite a bit of controversy. His first scandal stemmed from his feud with fellow YouTuber Tati Westbrook — who publicly "accused him of disloyalty and attempting to seduce a heterosexual man with the knowledge of the man's sexuality" in 2019 — and to follow, he was accused of child grooming in 2021. More recently, James found himself in yet another scandal, this time involving TikTokers Kayla Malec and Evan Johnson in April 2025. While Kayla accused Evan of domestic violence — which was eventually taken to court, with Evan pleading guilty and being sentenced to one and a half years in prison — James was accused of supporting Evan, going so far as to have sexual relations with him. Yikes! Nevertheless, Entertainment Tonight shared a video via TikTok of James at the 2025 AMAs, rocking an all-black ensemble that consisted of a double-breasted blazer, bermuda shorts and more. To accompany the look, the YouTube sensation wore dainty silver earrings and rings, as well as a rainbow eyeshadow look that brought a pop of color to the overall outfit. With his attire aside, almost instantaneously, the comment section of the TikTok video was flooded with negativity, with fans wondering why such a controversial character was invites to the 2025 AMAs (especially since the Kayla and Evan controversy is so recent). "Seriously? They invited even after his latest allegations on top of the other allegations?" one fan wrote, while another added, "The nerve." A third dished, "After everything… he was still invited??" James also shared a video via TikTok getting ready for the award show, which also amassed a great deal of hate comments. "So are we all just gonna move on?" one fan wrote, while another added, "Who invited him?" A third dished, "You do not deserve to go." While James' attendance was quite polarizing, the award show was a success nonetheless. To see it for yourself, Paramount Plus subscribers in the United States can stream the 2025 AMAs today (May 27) via the platform. 2025 AMAs Appearance by Polarizing YouTuber Sparks Instant Backlash: 'Seriously?' first appeared on Parade on May 27, 2025

10 Best Powder Blush Formulas for an Easily Blended Flush
Whether you're chasing a whisper of color or a full-on flush, the best powder blush formulas are far more versatile than they're credited for. Long before liquid and cream iterations took over social media feeds, powder blushes were our first flirtation with color—the gateway to a lifelong relationship with makeup. For many of us, those early experiments came straight from a mother's vanity. I still remember sneaking into the marbled acrylic green makeup organizer, eyes wide, hands shaky, as I swept on a hint of her early-2000s CoverGirl blush with that unmistakably tiny, scratchy brush included in the packaging. Vogue's Favorite Powder Blush In This Story Fast forward to now—powder blushes have grown up with us. Today's formulas are finely milled, baked, buildable, and richly pigmented. They can be dusted lightly for a barely-there glow or layered for vibrant drama. And while powder blushes work beautifully on their own, swiped on with your favorite fluffy brush, they also play well with others. Try setting a creams, liquids, or blush sticks with a matching powder for enhanced depth and all-day wear. Below, shop our 10 favorite powder blushes for buildable, easy to apply, and reliably rosy cheeks. Best Cream-to-Powder: Chanel Joues Contraste Intense Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush $52 CHANEL Why we love it : Chanel never fails to deliver with their color cosmetics—this blush is no different, boasting up to 12 hours of fade-proof wear. The cream-to-powder formula offers a velvety to the touch feel that dries down to a highly pigmented powder. Plus, it's Vogue's senior beauty commerce, Kiana Murden's go-to, which she says is the product that made her fall in love with powder blush again. 'It achieves a soft-focus, natural (never splotchy) burst of color to the skin with a single swipe. Keep in mind though: it's more pigmented than you might expect. Dust a bit onto your brush, tap off any excess powder, then glide along your cheek for the most seamless (and buildable) application,' says Murden. : Chanel never fails to deliver with their color cosmetics—this blush is no different, boasting up to 12 hours of fade-proof wear. Coty Cuts Annual Profit Forecast
CoverGirl parent Coty cut its annual profit forecast on Tuesday, signalling soft demand for cosmetics in the United States amid inflationary pressures. The company's shares fell about 2 percent in extended trading. They have fallen about 25 percent so far this year. Coty has been struggling with retailers in the US destocking due to weak demand from consumers, who are facing the impact of still-high inflation. Weakness in travel retail business at airports in Asia has also hurt beauty retailers, with cosmetics giant Estée Lauder flagging a sputtering recovery in demand for beauty products in key China market. Coty expects 2025 per-share profit to be between 49 and 50 cents, compared with its prior forecast of 50 to 52 cents. By Juveria Tabassum; Editing by Shilpi Majumdar Learn more: Coty to Cut 700 Jobs As Part of Cost-Saving Initiative The American beauty conglomerate announced on Thursday that a newly enhanced cost-saving programme will cull 700 jobs across the globe, around 5 percent of its workforce.

Christie Brinkley shares details of brutal diet she followed to maintain trim figure
Iconic American swimwear model Christie Brinkley has been sharing details about her life and career via the release of her autobiography, titled Uptown Girl: A Memoir Christie Brinkley has shared details of the brutal diet she used to subject herself to in order to maintain a trim figure. The 71-year-old American star is one of the most iconic models of the past fifty years. She has featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues - making history as the first to appear on three consecutive covers in 1979, 1980, and 1981. She was also the face of CoverGirl for a generation of girls and women - and worked with major brands including Max Factor, Revlon, and Chanel. Last month, fans of Christie got to know about her unlike ever before as she shared details of her life in her autobiography; Uptown Girl: A Memoir. Through the pages of her book, she shared details about her life and career - and also shared her disbelief over the lengths she would go to in order to remain slim. Through her memoir, Christie share details for her diary entries from the 1970s where she kept a record of what she was eating. On one date, her diet included a sugar-free digestive cookie, 0% fat yogurt, and orange, brown rice, "one bite of Gruyère cheese" and more 0% fat yogurt. Reviewing her pages, she wrote, per RadarOnline: "I can't believe that this was my idea of healthy." She added: "But at the time, I was so desperate to fit into designer clothes, which came in only one size when I was a young model: runway size, which was impossibly small. "The thinner I was, the more likely I would be able to metamorphose into a dress or pantsuit – and the less embarrassed I would likely feel at work. "Even so, I did a lot of modeling with the zippers open in the back and with photographers asking me to turn this way or that so the camera wouldn't reveal my jerry-rigged outfit." Christie owes her modelling career to American photographer Errol Sawyer who first discovered the star when she was aged 19. The photographer spotted the future model while she was in a central téléphonique office in Paris in 1973. While the star has been in the spotlight for decades, fans have been wowed by her youthful appearance. And in recent weeks, she confirmed she had enjoyed some cosmetic procedures over the years. Opening up to People magazine last month, she said, "I mainly do lasers. I don't try to get rid of every wrinkle. I've dabbled with fillers and I go to my doctor in the city. I don't want to look 'done' or anything." Last year, the American star revealed she had been diagnosed with skin cancer. She told People, "I just did Fraxel (a skin resurfacing treatment) because I had skin cancer and that helps get rid of pre-cancerous cells. It's mainly about health for me now." Reflecting on her career, she said, "I was literally told you will be chewed up and spit out by 30. "I stood at the top, thinking I've never felt better in my life. And that's when I decided to kiss the numbers goodbye because I wasn't going to let them define me."
