First Footage From Coyote vs. ACME Drops at Comic-Con, New Images, and a Release Date! — GeekTyrant

We got to see the very first footage from the upcoming Looney Tunes movie Coyote Vs. ACME and the panel started with some tongue-in-cheek fun. Moderator Paul Scheer opened by joking that this was 'the movie Acme didn't want you to see,' only to be interrupted by P.J. Byrne as ACME lawyer Bill Pellicano serving a cease-and-desist. The gag didn't stop the party as WB rolled out the release date announcement, details about the filming process (a puppet stood in for Coyote during live-action scenes), and most importantly, three clips from the film. Here's what we saw: Clip #1: Coyote's Breaking Point The first clip was basically a teaser. Coyote sitting alone, flipping through old blueprints while reflecting on all the times his plans epically failed trying to catch and kill the roadrunner. It cuts between him in the present and classic Looney Tunes footage, all set to Johnny Cash's 'Hurt.' It's darkly funny and oddly emotional. Then, on TV, an ad pops up: Kevin Avery (Will Forte) in a cheesy 'If you've been wronged, call us' commercial targeting faulty ACME products. This is Coyote's moment of destiny. Clip #2: The Courtroom Disaster Next came a six-minute scene from Coyote's first day in court. Luis Guzmán plays the judge, who gleefully swaps out his regular gavel for a cartoon one when he sees a toon is involved. John Cena's Buddy Crane delivers a smooth-as-silk opening statement, arguing Acme isn't to blame—, Coyote is just reckless. The courtroom is a mix of humans and cartoons. A human sketch artist sits beside a cartoon artist sculpting with ice. The jury? Mostly human, except for Miss Prissy, knitting away and casually says she 'just laid an egg' after hearing Crane speak, which got some big laughs. Then Avery takes the floor… and spectacularly bombs. He's nervous, fumbling, spilling water all over the place, and things go from bad to worse when Coyote hands him a faulty ACME Rocket Rollerblade to use as evidence. It won't turn on… until it does, bursting into flames, scorching Coyote, and flying around the room in a chaotic slapstick frenzy. Clip #3: A Familiar Voice on the Line Later, Avery is back at his hotel watching TV when he gets a mysterious phone call. The voice says he can help win the case. Avery doesn't know who it is, but we do. It's Bugs Bunny. He gives Avery an address and the promise of some damning intel. Fade out. A Trailer Tease and a Chaotic Ending The panel ended with a tease for the trailer, after another Acme lawyer stunt shut the whole thing down. Interns swarmed the stage, escorting everyone out, while Forte ran back in yelling, 'Play the trailer!' as he was dragged away. The trailer was incredibly fun and packed with silly stunts, wild and amusing action, live-action/animation chaos, and plenty of Looney Tunes cameos, ending with the phrase: 'The movie ACME didn't want you to see,' splattered in blood. It was absolutely insane and I'm even more excited to see the film! After all the drama surrounding the film, fans finally have a date circled on the calendar as Coyote vs. ACME opens in theaters on August 28, 2026. Sure, it's still a long wait, but considering this movie was once dead and buried, we'll take it. The movie looks like it's going to be pretty freakin' hilarious and fans are going to love it! What do you think? Are you hyped to see Wile E. Coyote take Acme to court?

COYOTE VS. ACME Sets Release Date, Shares First Clips

At San Diego Comic Con 2025, an incredible feat of wonder happened. A panel they didn't want to happen took place. After being unceremoniously canceled by Warner Bros. Discovery, the completed Coyote vs. ACME movie was brought back to life by fan love and efforts. Defying the odds like Wile E. Coyote himself, Coyote vs. ACME arrived at SDCC 2025 to great fan excitement and much applause. The biggest piece of news was, of course, its release date. Coyote vs. ACME will release on August 28, 2026. In addition to its release date, Coyote vs. ACME also screened two first-look clips which promise this movie is one worth watching. First-Look Clip Reveals a Despondent Wile E. Coyote Finding Hope in Unexpected Places In what seems like an early opening sequence from Coyote vs. ACME, the first sneak peek clip revealed from the movie shows us how the plot kicks off. Wile E. Coyote is despondent in his cartoon lair as the perfect song choice, 'Hurt' by Johnny Cash, plays around him. He has a room full of dynamite crates and other tools for his hijinx, but there's an emptiness in his heart. But not all hope is lost. In his cartoon world, Wile E. Coyote is watching a live-action TV screen, showing off the movie's smart use of hybrid animation and live-action sequences. On the TV, an ad for one of those cheesy law firms plays. 'Have you been hurt before?' it asks, gotten a piano dropped on you or other ill fates? Well, Avery, John, and Maltese are ready to help you, just dial 1-800-Justice! If you've been hurt, the ad suggests, it's not your fault and surely, you can blame someone! Those words speak right to Wile E. Coyote's heart and BOOM, he explodes right into the office of the law firm. We have to say, this was one hilarious sequence. Second First-Look Clip Shows Off John Cena Smarmy ACME Lawyer and Incredible Cartoon and Live-Action Interweaving The second Coyote vs. ACME clip takes us into the courtroom. Wile E. Coyote has hired Will Forte's law firm to sue ACME. But ACME has powerhouse lawyer John Cena, who is sneering, smirking, and ready for action. We begin in the courtroom with the judge, who clocks, human, human, human, cartoon. Yes, as this first-look footage shows us, in Coyote vs. ACME's world, cartoons are just a normal, everyday occurrence. In honor of this, the judge opts not to use a human gavel and instead selects a cartoon one. When he bangs it, it squeaks! The whole audience cracked up. After the cartoon gavel appears, cartoons start to flood the scene. There's a cartoon goose knitting and making eyes at John Cena, there's a cartoon bird chiseling away at a likeness of the courtroom scene next to the traditional illustrator, and many other Easter eggs. But, of course, the star of this Coyote vs. ACME scene is John Cena. He brings the perfect obnoxious, American macho energy to his performance as he smoothly blames Wile E. Coyote for making his own bad decisions. He even manages to pour water into his cup as he holds the jug a mile away. Sadly, Will Forte tries to emulate him, spills water everywhere, makes a huge mess, and almost explodes the courtroom oops! Later, though, his character gets a call for a very exciting source! Yes, Bugs Bunny will cameo in Coyote vs. ACME. Bugs says, 'What's up, doc!' and offers to help take down the evil ACME. These two clips are honestly perfection and we can't wait to see what else is in store. Shares New First-Look Images In addition to all of the above, Coyote vs. Acme also shared three new first-look images, check em out below.
