Indian boxing team to train in China!

NEW DELHI: An Indian boxing contingent will travel to China for the first time for a 15-day long training camp in preparation for the forthcoming Asian Youth Games, scheduled in Bahrain from Oct 22 to 31. Ajay Singh , chairman of the interim committee running the day-to-day affairs of Indian boxing, told TOI that a team of under-17 boys and girls will leave for Xinjiang on Aug 15 to train at the province's Ürümqi Olympic Sports Centre. In India, they will further attend a 28-day national camp before departing for Bahrain. A total of 21 boys and 21 girls in the under-17 division will go to Xinjiang, with 14 boxers each (gold and silver winners at the Nationals) making the Asian Games weight categories and remaining seven accompanying the team in the non-Asian Games weight divisions. We believe that the China camp will be beneficial for our boxers. For now, we are starting with our juniors.
