The pro bodybuilding community said goodbye to another one of its own following the death of Craig Licker. Licker, a Massachusetts native, died earlier in the week, according to multiple reports. The 20-year IFBB pro began his career in 1995 with the Niagara Falls Pro Invitational and the Houston Pro Championship, and after a short bodybuilding sabbatical, returned in 2015 to place 12th in the Chicago Pro and 16th in the Tampa Pro. 'Craig and I both were BMW fanatics .. he had a tuned-to-the-max BMW M3 and I had an M5… we spent ludicrous amounts of money on upgrading our cars and we'd race each other and talk 'car shop' all the time,' he continued. Although the full details of his cause of death have not been publicised, Licker has nevertheless received tributes from fans, fellow sportsmen and women, fitness fans and those he inspired across the globe since his death, noting the impact he had on the sport. Craig Licker's journey in pro bodybuilding Craig Licker actually started climbing the competitive bodybuilding ladder back in 1994 when he won Middleweight at the NPC Nationals. Back then, pro cards were so rare, it was a huge accomplishment and put Licker on the map as an up-and-coming name in bodybuilding. This win granted him his IFBB Pro card, and shortly after, he made his professional debut in 1995 at the Niagara Falls Pro Invitational and Houston Pro Championship. Outside the stage, Licker had a career in the fitness industry, where he was a leading salesman for Species Nutrition in New England during the early 2010s. As well as his competitive accomplishments, he became well known for his strong work ethic and motivational presence within the fitness community. Friends and colleagues describe Licker as a talented athlete with a stoic style, a jokester, a person who spread joy wherever he went and made all of us better for it.
