Keke Palmer Says She's 'Never Going Back' After Red Hair Transformation (Exclusive)

She says that having red hair is "way more fun" than other colors she's triedKeke Palmer is proving that blondes aren't the only ones who get to have fun!
The actress spoke with PEOPLE exclusively at the 2025 Essence Fest in New Orleans about her role as chief brand officer for Creme of Nature and her latest foray into being a redhead. She says she's been loving it so much that she can't fathom switching shades anytime soon.
"Having red hair is way more fun. It's funny because I was red before, but I don't think that the color was giving what it's giving now," she told PEOPLE at the event. "This ginger copper, ... I'm living my best life and I'm never going back. I need everybody to know I'm never going back. Legitimately."
She continued, "I don't know why Tyra [Banks] went back. It works with the eyes, it works with everything. It's really, really good. It's so crazy how it's like there's not really many Black redheads, but for whatever reason it looks good on our skin."

Palmer has been showing off her red hair in recent months. She has worn it in an array of styles, from her natural curls and wigs, to bold braids and slicked-back styles.

"I was gagged that they actually saw me as a chief brand officer," Palmer told PEOPLE of the Creme of Nature partnership. "I'll say I've been pretty much a chief brand officer alongside my mom with the Keke Palmer brand for years."
The One of Them Days star added that her "audience is very much aligned with the legacy brand of Creme of Nature, especially coming from Chicago. So I was very excited to take it seriously and to see how I could grow and how I could learn and what I could share in this modern era of storytelling, especially digitally."
Palmer also opened up to PEOPLE about her physical transformation after giving birth to her and ex-boyfriend Darius Jackson's 2-year-old son, Leodis.

"You have to get back to yourself after the baby. It's really, really hard. Anybody with kids knows sometimes it can take three, four, five years," she explained. "It really wears your ass out."
Palmer credits her toned physique to Pilates and noted that it had freed her from thinking that she needed to be a certain weight.
"I need people to know it doesn't matter what that scale says. It matters about the muscles. That's what I love about Pilates," she added. "It don't matter what your size is, your body going to be snatched with Pilates."
