To keep things legit, Numbeo runs these responses through filters that catch spam and fake accounts. The final scores are converted to a 0 to 100 scale, where anything below 20 is considered very low crime, 20 to 40 is low, 40 to 60 is moderate, 60 to 80 is high, and anything above 80 is classified as very high crime. Well, here is a list of countries that ranked in the top of the Crime Index of Numbeo, a crowd-sourced rating system that estimates the overall crime level in a city or country. Contributors rate their perception of local crime on a scale from -2 (strong negative perception) to +2 (strong positive perception). These numbers are then filtered using spam-detecting algorithms to weed out bots, trolls, and people demonstrating suspicious behaviour. The final score is scaled from 0 to 100 for easy understanding: Very low crime: Below 20 Low: 20–40 Moderate: 40–60 High: 60–80 Very high: Above 80 So if a place scores a 78, it's not exactly safe after dark. The Safety Index, by the way, is just the Crime Index's mirror twin. UAE ranked safest country in the world in 2025 mid-year review
The UAE has once again clinched the top spot in a ranking of safest countries in the world. According to the 'Safety Index by Country 2025 Mid-Year' by Numbeo, a crowd-sourced online database, the UAE logged 85.2 points. The UAE was followed by Andorra, Qatar, Taiwan and Macao (China), who rounded up the top 5 countries on the Safety Index. The UAE, home to more than 200 nationalities, is known for its quality of living and its safety and security. It had ranked second on Numbeo's the safety index in March 2025, while Andorra had topped that list. In the mid-year list, Andorra, a small country situated between France and Spain and known for its ski resorts, ranked second with 84.8 points on the Safety Index. Qatar ranked third with 84.6 points, followed by Taiwan and Macao. Saudi Arabia ranked 14 on the index, followed by Bahrain at 15. Kuwait ranked 38 and Jordan 54. Pakistan came in at 62, with the Philippines and India ranking close to each other, 66 and 67, respectively. The UK ranked 86 with 51.6 index points, while the US ranked 91 with 50.8 points. Last year, UAE's Abu Dhabi and Dubai remained top liveable cities in the Middle East and Africa, and improved their scores in health care and education, according to the Global Liveability Index of the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) for 2024. The index ranked Dubai closely behind in the second spot, highlighting its achieved progress in the same areas. According to the 'Crime and Safety Indexes'' provided by the Numbeo website, Abu Dhabi is considered one of the safest cities globally. The city ranked first globally on the Safety Index with a score of 88.2 points and had the lowest score on the Crime Index with 11.8 points. Meanwhile, Dubai ranked fifth on the list of the world's safest cities.

CM Maryam lauds police performance
LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has appreciated the Lahore Police for curbing crime rate in Lahore. The CM met IGP Dr Usman Anwar, CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana, DIG Administration Imran Kishwar, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran and DIG Investigation Zeeshan Raza. She also hosted a luncheon for the police team. The Chief Minister appreciated the efforts of the police in the reduction of crime rate in Lahore. She underscored that protection of the life and property of every citizen is the foremost responsibility of the state. She urged the citizens to cooperate and support the police in order to establish and maintain law and order across Punjab. She said, 'By introducing ranking system in the Police department, crime rate in Lahore and other cities is on the decline. The crime graph coming down is the result of excellent policing.' She appreciated, 'Lahore Police Operation Wing's laudable performance in the 'Crime Index' has made it a safe city as compared to London and New York cities. It is a great milestone for the Lahore Police and the Punjab government. Lahore city has been included in the Safe City category due to adopting excellent strategy in combating crime.' The CM added, 'Despite facing enormous challenges with regard to maintaining law and order in the province, achieving crime reduction target speak volumes of excellent teamwork and CTD has been activated in this regard. Every city, including Lahore, will be made the safest.' She maintained, 'By introducing 'Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)' the performance of the police and administration has significantly improved.
