Unidentified body found in rural area near Kewanee, police say
An unidentified body has been found in a rural area west of Kewanee, according to a news release from Kewanee Police. On Friday, May 30, the Kewanee Police Department, Henry County Sheriff's Office, and IllinoisState Police conducted a coordinated search of several rural areas west of Kewanee. During the operation, a concerned resident who lives in the area spoke with law enforcement and began to check nearby properties to which they had access. That person found a body in 'an area of interest' and immediately notified authorities. Officers responded to the scene, verified the discovery, and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit processed the location, the release says. Because of the condition of the body, a positive identification cannot be confirmed at this time, the release shows. An autopsy has been scheduled for early next week in Peoria. 'Law enforcement would like to thank the concerned citizen for their initiative and willingness toassist in the search,' the release says. Further information will be released 'as it becomes available and appropriate to share.' Teen charged with murder for shooting a Lyft driver in Panama City Beach
BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – The Bay County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call on Saturday at 2:24 a.m. of a reported shooting on Wildwood Road and Emerald Cove Street. The Bay County Sheriff's Office said they responded to find a victim on the road suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was quickly taken to a local hospital, where they succumbed to the gunshot wound, officials confirmed. The victim's car was located about 100 yards north of the victim, on the road. BCSO Criminal Investigations joined Patrol deputies in the investigation, and the Crime Scene Unit processed the vehicle and the scene. Inside the vehicle, investigators said blood and bullet holes were found. PCPD involved in crash; no injuries reported According to a news release, a witness stated they observed a man flee the scene and scale a fence, firing as he fled. The suspect ran into the Woodlawn neighborhood, officials wrote. Deputies and investigators began an intense search of the area. The suspect was quickly identified as 17-year-old Brayden Raul Gomez of Bay County. He was located on Dorothy Avenue and taken into custody. After speaking with Gomez, investigators said they believe the victim was working as a Lyft driver and was driving Gomez to a requested destination when the incident occurred. Wildwood Road was closed for several hours for processing overnight, but is now open. Gomez has been charged with an Open Count of Murder and taken to the Bay County Jail. San Angelo Police: teen dead, 17-year-old charged with murder in Bermuda Drive shooting
SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — A 16-year-old boy has died following a shooting that occurred early Saturday morning in the 4400 block of Bermuda Drive, according to the San Angelo Police Department. Early morning shooting leaves one injured in Southwest San Angelo, Police investigate Police identified the suspect as Derek Carson, 17, who has been taken into custody and will be charged with murder. Authorities said the investigation remains active and ongoing, led by the department's Criminal Investigations Division. 'Our most experienced investigators are working diligently to ensure a thorough and complete case,' the department said in a statement. Rip currents turn deadly along Florida coast during Easter weekend
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An investigation is underway in Florida after officials said a man was killed due to a possible rip current on Easter Sunday. According to information provided by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, officers responded to reports of a drowning of an adult male in his late teens at Hanna Park in Jacksonville around 5 p.m. Sunday. How To Watch Fox Weather Officials said that officers working at the park were able to pull the unidentified victim from the water, and the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department brought him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Detectives with the Homicide unit and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene, and the initial investigation revealed the victim was swimming when a possible rip current pulled him out and he went underwater. Rip currents are narrow, fast-moving channels of water that flow away from the shoreline. They are often difficult to spot and pose significant threats to swimmers. The sheriff's office said foul play is not suspected, but investigators would be working with the medical examiner's office to determine his cause of death. No other information was provided. First responders in Fort Lauderdale said they were alerted to multiple swimmers in distress at beaches in South Florida on Friday, and they recovered the body of a 12-year-old boy who had been caught in rough ocean currents along Fort Lauderdale Beach. Lifeguards were able to assist most of the swimmers back to shore, but the 12-year-old boy was not immediately located. Three cops injured assuspects hurl grenade at police station
Three policemen sustained injuries when unknown suspects, riding a motorcycle, hurled a hand grenade at Preedy police station in South Zone. The grenade exploded with a loud sound and also damaged a high-roof and a car parked in the police station. Panic gripped the area after the explosion. The police called the Bomb Disposal Squad and Crime Scene Unit for necessary legal and preventive measures. Cops injured in the blast were identified as Arshad, Aamir and Riaz. Their condition is stated to be out of danger. Talking to the media people, SSP South Mahzoor Ali confirmed that a hand grenade was thrown at the Preedy police station in late hours of previous night. No organisation has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. He further mentioned that efforts are being made to obtain CCTV footage of the incident from cameras installed in the area to track down the attackers. The attack on the police station was carried out using an RGD-5 grenade, he mentioned. Meanwhile, Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hasan Lanjar has taken notice of the grenade attack on Preedy police station. He ordered an investigation into the incident and said that the security in the city be made effective. Lanjar also contacted the SSP South and inquired about the details of the incident from senior police officials and CTD authorities.
