Officers removed 350 cannabis plants from a flat on Allison Street, following the execution of a warrant. The bust was part of a successful week for Police Scotland, during which more than £630,000 of drugs were seized. We reported yesterday that 12kg of cocaine, with a value up to £360,000, was found in a home on East Kilbride's Owen Avenue. 'Controlled substances are dangerous and cause real harm to individuals, families and communities. They are illegal for that very reason. 'Working closely with our partners, we remain focused on targeting individuals and organised crime groups, who selfishly exploit vulnerable people solely for their own financial gain. 'Results like these show our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country's Serious Organised [[Crime]] Strategy. The discovery was made after officers executed a warrant at a property in Clarence Street on Thursday, June 5. An extensive cannabis cultivation was found inside, with the drugs having an estimated street value of £1,306,200. Five men, aged 17, 23, 26, 38 and 50 were arrested and charged in connection with drug offences. They appeared at Greenock Sheriff Court on Friday, June 6. Sergeant Gary Arthur said: "This is a significant recovery and is an example of our efforts to disrupt the trade in illegal drugs in Scotland. "It also underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country's Serious Organised Crime Strategy. "We would continue to urge anyone with information or concerns about drugs and firearms activity in their area to contact Police Scotland on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged after Police Scotland discovered a cannabis cultivation worth an estimated £340,000 at an address in Uphall. Around 9.40am on Wednesday, 11 June officers attended an address in the South Middleton area where the cannabis cultivation was discovered within. Detective Sergeant John Irvine said: 'This is a significant recovery and is an example of our efforts to disrupt the activity of illegal drugs in Scotland. 'Drugs cause misery in our communities and the public has an important role to play in helping Police Scotland target those responsible for the cultivation, supply and sale of illegal substances.
