Campaign to tackle violence and abuse against women and girls in Wales
New figures from Crimestoppers Wales show that between April and June 2025, 56 per cent more reports linked to domestic abuse were received by the charity compared to the same period last year. The new campaign urges victims to seek help and support and for colleagues, friends, and family who know what is taking place or have suspicions to tell the authorities or contact the charity 100 per cent anonymously. Hayley Fry, regional manager for Wales at Crimestoppers, said: 'Women and girls in Wales have the right to feel safe, wherever they are – at home, at work, online, or in public. "No one should live in fear, especially from a partner, family member, or within their own home. "If you are a victim, support is available – please reach out. "And if you know someone at risk, your anonymous report to Crimestoppers could help change -or even save- a life. "Together, we can build a safer Wales for women and girls by challenging abusers, supporting survivors, and refusing to look away or stay silent." Hate crime investigation launched after woman attacked by teenagers in Colchester
A HATE crime investigation has been launched by Essex Police after a woman was attacked with a rock and verbally abused by up to seven teenagers in Colchester. The force is appealing for witnesses to the incident, which took place between 5.15pm and 5.30pm on Tuesday April 8 at Colchester's Castle Park. Essex Police has confirmed that the attack is being treated as a hate crime and has asked anyone with information or footage of the incident to come forward. We're now on WhatsApp! A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "We were notified of an assault in which a woman had a rock thrown at her and verbally abused by a group of up to 7 teenagers aged around 15 years old. "Of the group, one girl was wearing an all-pink outfit, and one boy was wearing grey jogging bottoms and a dark hoodie. "The incident occurred between 5.15 - 5.30pm on Tuesday 8 April at Castle Park, Colchester, near to the public conveniences at the rear of Holly Trees. "We are treating this as a hate crime and are asking anyone with any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, to get in contact."
