It is the latest in several major seizures made by either gardaí or Revenue over the past two weeks. The seizure was made during the course of a search of a residence in the Dublin 8 area. The drugs seized are now subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland. Two men, aged in their 20s and 30s, were arrested in connection with the investigation. They have since been charged with offences under the misuse of drugs act, and appeared before the Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ) this afternoon, Saturday, 24 May. Meanwhile, Gardaí seized a number of weapons, including knives, baseball bats and a firearm, alongside a quantity of drugs in Dublin on Thursday. Officers attached to the Serious Crime West and DMR North Units and the Ballymun Community Response Team seized the weapons, which consisted of four knives, two baseball bats and a gun with ammo, following a search operation in Ballymun. Alongside the weapons, Gardaí seized a number of bags of cannabis as well as cocaine and heroin. Earlier this month, a teenager was arrested and charged after she was found with over half a million euros of cannabis in Dublin Airport. Revenue officers seized the 26.10kgs of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of approximately €522,000, in Dublin Airport on Thursday, May 15, as part of an intelligence-led operation. The cannabis was discovered concealed in vacuum-packed packages within the baggage of a passenger who had disembarked from a flight from Abu Dhabi. A female in her late teens was subsequently arrested by An Garda Síochána in relation to the seizure and was detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at a Dublin Garda Station.
