West Coast premiership star Jamie Cripps to boost Eagles against North Melbourne in historic Bunbury clash

West Coast premiership star Jamie Cripps has completed a near-miraculous comeback from minor knee surgery only two weeks ago to be named for the Eagles' clash against North Melbourne in Bunbury on Sunday. Cripps has missed the past two games because of a minor knee issue he carried into the Eagles' round 10 win over St Kilda and was set to be sidelined until after the bye. But the 33-year-old has made a quicker than expected recovery and has been named in the extended squad to take on fellow bottom two side in the Kangaroos at Hands Oval. Cripps is joined by South West product Clay Hall and ruckman Bailey Williams in the extended squad as the Eagles look to claim an elusive win against Alastair Clarkson's side. 'Everyone heals differently and he's just healed a bit quicker than expected which is terrific,' Eagles coach Andrew McQualter said on Cripps. Forward Liam Ryan has also been named in the starting side after being listed as a test after he copped a bad cork to his lower leg early in their 43-point loss to Geelong at Optus Stadium on Sunday evening. Hall and Williams have been named on an extended bench alongside Tyler Brockman, Noah Long, Tyrell Dewar, Jack Williams, Ryan Maric and last week's sub Bo Allan with the squad to be cut to 23 on Friday afternoon. North Melbourne have named three West Australians in their squad with former Fremantle defender Griffin Logue as well as small forward Robert Hansen Jnr and ruckman Brynn Teakle in the squad. Swan Districts product Logue has not played since round six, while Teakle has been named for what could be his first game of the season after the Northampton product played 11 matches last year having been picked up in the mid-season rookie draft. Hansen Jnr has not played since round four but signed a contract extension last month to remain at the club until the end of 2026. The Kangaroos have lost backman Aidan Corr to injury, while Finnbar Maley has been dropped, with Kallan Dawson and Cooper Harvey also a chance to come into the team. The Eagles travel to Bunbury on Saturday where they will have main training at Hands Oval before taking on the Kangaroos on Sunday afternoon. 'It's awesome we get to spend another game over here in WA. It saves us getting on a plane which is great,' McQualter said. 'We're really excited to get down to Bunbury ... we've got a couple of guys that grew up near there which is great. 'Our families can go to another game which is great.' There has been a lot of talk leading into the game about a strong Southerly breeze which favours scoring to the City end of the oval. It was a significant factor in the Eagles' pre-season win over the Kangaroos, with only five goals kicked into it but McQualter wasn't concerned about the conditions. 'I'm very poor at predicting the weather and the feedback we've got at the moment is it doesn't look like it's going to be as windy as it was last time,' he said. 'If it is on the day, we'll adjust accordingly but hopefully it's not a big issue. 'We're going to be prepared. We'll have a run around on Saturday afternoon, but at the end of the day it's a big chunk of grass with some lines on it and four posts up either end.' Tasmanian Netball League 2025 live stream: Cripps v Karana, Round 16

Don't miss out on the headlines from Netball Live Stream. Followed categories will be added to My News. While they may not have secured a win so far this season, Karana could very well play a major part in shaping the TNL's top four. And while he'd clearly love to have a few wins under the belt, Karana coach Rick Loring is just ensuring his players 'stay in the moment'. The Flames will get the chance to both turn their fortunes around and cause an upset when they face finals-bound Cripps on Saturday. Both the Opens and U19s matches will be available live and exclusive on KommunityTV from 4pm. Despite their poor record, Loring believes his side's best is good enough. 'We have played some really good moments throughout the season,' Loring said. 'When we have zipped through the defence of other teams we have looked really good and it shows we can match it with them. 'It isn't something we have really looked at, the ladder, but it could be a way to motivate the girls for the rest of the season. 'They have been really good at sticking together, we have had injuries that have impacted us definitely but they have stayed pretty close as a group which is great to see.' Cripps sit fourth and on the same amount of points as fifth placed Devon, who will be taking on the third-place Hawks this weekend. The Hawks are two games clear in third spot. With five rounds to go, the top three look almost set on the ladder with fourth place still up for grabs between Cripps and Devon. 'We play (Devon) after the Kings Birthday bye weekend, a road trip up there which will be nice for the group,' Loring said. 'I wish we had to travel earlier in the season as it bonds the group together. 'It is a long trip, four hours up on the bus and then four hours back and we will do it in a day as well. 'But maybe I can use the motivation about the ladder to get the girls up as well. 'Hopefully it creates a bit more for the girls and we can jag a win.'

Mesirow raises $1.2B for value-add apartments

Sponsor: Mesirow Institutional Real Estate Direct Investor commitments: $1.245 billion Target: Value-add apartments Target markets: Top 30 U.S. markets Last week, Mesirow Institutional Real Estate Direct announced the final closing of the Mesirow Financial Real Estate Value Fund V after securing $1.245 billion in investor commitments, according to a news release. The Chicago-based financial services firm established the fund's hard cap to maintain portfolio diversification and ensure disciplined investment pacing. Fund V will target value-add multifamily assets across the top 25 to 30 U.S. markets, focusing on building asset appreciation through revenue enhancement, cost optimization and property management. 'With Fund V, we remain focused on multifamily assets in select major U.S. metropolitan markets, building on a platform with more than $8.5 billion in assets under management,' said Mesirow Institutional Real Estate Direct CEO Alasdair Cripps in the news release. Mesirow is attracted to the multifamily sector's long-term fundamentals, including durable rent profiles, inflation protection and inelastic demand. 'Fund V will continue our focus on repositioning underperforming class A multifamily assets, acquired at discounts to replacement cost, in high-growth markets where barriers to entry reduce the risk of oversupply,' Cripps said. Other large firms have also announced major fundraising plans for value-add apartments this year. For instance, Fairfield held its final close in February for its U.S. Multifamily Value Add Fund IV LP with $1.47 billion of equity commitments, including $350 million of co-investment equity, exceeding its $1 billion target, according to a news release. The San Diego-based owner, developer and operator will focus on acquiring value-add multifamily assets in more than 30 major metros nationwide with the vehicle, which is its largest to date. As of February, it had deployed approximately $385 million of equity in 16 assets. Click here to sign up to receive multifamily and apartment news like this article in your inbox every weekday. AFL Mid West round 11 wrap: Cripps and the Blues go down to the Giants

Northampton's Patrick Cripps and his Carlton side went down to GWS by 28-points at Marvel Stadium while the Eagles failed to fly in Adelaide in the of the AFL's Sir Doug Nicholls round. Round 11 was one of mixed fortunes for the AFL's Mid West talent, as the Cripps-led Blues continued their up-and-down form. On Saturday, the Blues drew first blood in the 15th minute mark of the first quarter through Charlie Curnow from outside 50, sparking Carlton into action as Cripps then went on to take a mark over the top of Giants' Toby Bedford which led to a well-executed goal. GWS bounced back through Toby Greene, the first of what would be a big day for Greene as the Giants got their contest under way. A high-scoring first term set the tone for the rest of the game. It was a goal-for-goal second term. GWS edged in front with goals through Callum Brown and Jake Riccardi pushing the Giants ahead going into the half-time break. The Giants pulled away in the third term and followed through to the final quarter as the Blues failed to convert in front of goal. A brief fightback from the Blues saw some momentum swing their way but it was short-lived as the Giants kicked ahead through Jesse Hogan. The Giants ran over the top of the Blues in the fourth quarter, with the final score GWS 17.8 (110) to Carlton 12.10 (82). Cripps was still one of the Blues' best with 25 disposals, one goal, seven tackles and eight clearances. Waalitj Marawar (West Coast) suffered a big loss when they came up against Kuwarna (Adelaide) at Adelaide Oval on Sunday. Tyler Brockman had a decent day out with 16 disposals and one goal while Liam Ryan struggled in front of goal with four behinds and collected 11 disposals. The Eagles held their own with the Crows going goal for goal in the first quarter, before Brockman kicked one from outside 50 in the second term to keep the Eagles in touch. The Crows kicked truly in front of goal in the second term applying constant pressure on the Eagles backs. It was a tale of two halves for the Eagles as the third quarter saw the Crows pull away. The Crows smashed the Eagles with relentless inside 50s. The onslaught continued in the final term as the home side ran away with it comfortably. In the end, the final score was Kuwarna 19.14 (128) to Waalitj Marawar 8.14 (62). Judd McVee and the Demons had an important win against the Swans at the MCG on Sunday. McVee shone bright with a solid performance amassing 21 disposals, 14 kicks and eight marks in what was a big win for Narrm at home. The Dees were ahead for the entire game as the Swans failed to make their way back into the game after the first term. It was all but over in the third as Narrm ran away with it, before piling on the goals in the final term, winning by 53 points 19.17 (131) to 12.6 (78).
