A man's body was pulled from the River Lee in Cork following a huge search operation on Friday.
The tragedy unfolded near Kennedy Quay when a car was seen entering the water shortly before 9.50am. The deceased, understood to be aged in his late 40s, is believed to have been the sole occupant of a car.

Despite difficult conditions due to the deep water berth at Kennedy Quay, emergency crew were able remove the car from the water with the help of a large mobile crane.
The body of the deceased was also recovered and emergency services left the scene at approximately 12.20pm.
Victor Shine, second officer of Cork City Fire Brigade, confirmed the recovery to CorkBeo. He added: "Our sympathies go out to the family of the deceased who have gotten this horrendous news."
