Crown Prince Christian of Denmark, 19, is caught smooching daughter of former Army captain at music festival - and the rumoured couple have even 'enjoyed a holiday to Ibiza together'

Denmark's future king appeared to share a passionate kiss with a mystery 'girlfriend' at a music festival - but far from a scandalous royal smooch, the couple appear to have been together for 'at least a year' and have even reportedly enjoyed a getaway to Ibiza with one another. Crown Prince Christian, 19, looked to be partying up a storm as he joined 18-year-old sister Isabella - as well as his new rumoured romance - at Smukfest in Skanderborg on Wednesday. And as well as the teen Princess shocking fans by sporting an X-rated T-shirt emblazoned with the translated words 'f***ed him yesterday' with a suggestive arrow pointing off to the side, many have likely also been wowed to see the heir to the throne seemingly locking lips in the bustling crowd. Danish media reports that the elusive lady is one Emma Nygaard Fritzen, 21 - who is understood to have graduated from Ordrup Gymnasium, which the royal also attended. As per Billed Bladet, the pair are so serious that Emma was among those in attendance at Isabella's 18th birthday party this spring. Elsewhere according to Hola! the couple were also spotted together with friends during a recent trip to Ibiza, although nothing has been confirmed and the Royal House has not made a statement on the matter. The outlet also says Emma comes from 'Denmark's upper elite' and graduated form the University of Sydney - located in his mother Queen Mary's native Australia - and 'loves spending extended periods in Africa', where the Prince has also spent some time travelling and working in. Her father is said to be consulting firm McKinsey partner Søren Fritzen, who on LinkedIn shared that he 'served as a captain in the Danish Army, and participated in an international UN mission in former Yugoslavia'. He added: 'I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Danish Technical University and an Economics degree from Copenhagen Business School.' While Emma's social media profiles seem to be private, the photo of her and Christian kissing - which has now made its way through a myriad of royal fan accounts and blogs - appears to have initially been posted on her Instagram, and later deleted as wellwishers have shared other snaps of what is understood to be photos from the young socialite. The Daily Mail has reached out to the Kongehuset for comment. It is not the first time the Crown Prince has found himself embroiled in romantic speculation, as two years ago he was rumoured to be dating Princess Maria Chiara of Bourbon-Two Sicilies - even reportedly introducing her to his grandmother, Queen Margrethe. The Italian heiress is the youngest daughter to Prince Carlo, Duke of Castro, and Princess Camilla, Duchess of Castro. Her parents are family friends Queen Mary and King Frederik. Speculation was sparked after Christian was snapped enjoying a day out with friends at the Monaco Grand Prix in May of that year, and was seen standing close together with Roman-born Chiara in a group photo taken at the event. He was also reported to have spent time with the princess and her family this summer, after her mother shared an Instagram story of the family posing with Christian, captioning it 'family and friends'. The pair were also seen enjoying ice cream together in St Tropez, where Chiara is thought to have spent around two weeks, posting holiday snaps from the resort town. However, nothing was confirmed. Elsewhere at Wednesday's festival, controversy erupted when the second eldest child of the reigning royal couple was pictured at the festival in an innuendo-fuelled top. The princess' t-shirt was a merchandise top for Danish hip hop group Suspekt, who were performing at Smukfest. The music trio are renowned for their explicit and sexually charged lyrics. But pictures from the event also show that Isabella certainly wasn't alone in wearing the suggestive top, with other concert-goers wearing similar Suspekt band t-shirts. Danish political commentator Jarl Cordua was among the critics of the royal's choice of attire. He explained that while he understood the need for 'royals letting loose a little', he also believed there were 'limits' - and that the distasteful shirt crossed the line. The new pictures reveal that Isabella completed her casual festival look by wearing an orange bucket hat emblazoned with the festival nickname 'Smuk'. Despite the furore her attire would later attract, Isabella appeared very much at ease among the festival crowd. The following day, on August 7, Isabella was once again pictured at the festival - although it appears she wisely decided to leave her Suspekt band t-shirt at home. Instead, Isabella re-wore her orange bucket hat along with a white t-shirt, navy shorts and gumboots as she headed off to enjoy another day of live music. The royal was pictured walking through the busy festival with a group of her pals. Later in the day, the princess had ditched her bucket hat and was seen standing amongst the packed crowd to watch rapper Tessa's set. Princess Isabella appeared to be immersed in the performance as she was pictured smiling, dancing, closing her eyes and even singing along passionately. Fellow attendees were reportedly stunned to spot the king's daughter casually dressed and partying alongside them at the event. But eagle-eyed royal pundits spotted a small nod to Isabella's formal duties. She was still wearing the same jewellery that she'd been pictured in just a few days earlier during a royal photo call at Gråsten with her parents King Frederik and Queen Mary and younger brother Prince Vincent. On both occasions, Isabella wore a heart-shaped pendant from Danish brand Akua Objects alongside her trusty 'P' necklace worn many times before. Isabella wasn't the only royal partying it up at the Danish music festival. According to local Danish publication B.T., although Isabella and Christian attended the festival in a private capacity, they were both happily taking selfies with fans and even politely stopped to answer a few brief questions from the media. An opinion piece published by B.T.'s royal commentator Fie West Madsen noted that this was 'mature and wise behaviour'. '[It] shows that even though the royal and now adult children are letting loose, drinking a pint of beer and maybe wearing a bold t-shirt, they are still aware of their role as royals,' he said. 'Because let's be honest - the balance between being royal on the one hand and enjoying a normal teenage life every now and then is definitely not easy. 'Everything the Crown Prince and Princess Isabella do is noticed, and they know it very well. But this summer they have shown that they can easily be young and royal at the same time.' The Danish royal family is not new to Smukfest, with King Frederik in particular a renowned past regular attendee. Over the years, Frederik, 57, was regularly seen enjoying the festival with a beer in hand and taking selfies with other festival-goers. Some years saw him accompanied by his wife Queen Mary, 53, and more recently he was joined by Christian and Isabella. Interestingly, Frederik has also previously enjoyed watching Suspekt at the same festival. It would seem the King has passed this appreciation for their music onto his daughter, judging by her unexpected choice to wear one of the band's shirts. King Frederik has not attended the concert since he became regent last year. Nevertheless, it would certainly seem that Frederik has instilled his love of Smukfest in his children.

Denmark's Crown Prince Christian, 19, parties with friends at popular music festival

There was a touch of royalty at one of Denmark's biggest summer music festivals, with Queen Mary's son spotted in the mosh pit. Crown Prince Christian of Denmark swapped the crown for some festival gumboots as he attended Smukfest held at Skanderborg's historic forest last week, with the young royal seen rocking out among thousands of other revellers. Casually dressed in a checked shirt and white tee, the 19-year-old was seen dancing and singing in the crowd as the likes of Danish chart-toppers such as Anton Westerlin, Arcando and Aqua headlined the annual music festival, which is hailed as the second-largest festival in Denmark. This is the second time in as many months that Prince Christian, who is the son of King Frederik X, was spotted letting loose at a music festival with his mates. The teenager, who is first in line to the Danish throne, was spotted at Denmark's popular Roskilde Festival last month wearing a white tee and oversized denim shorts with what appeared to be a beer in his hand. Prince Christian's festival appearances come after his parents, King Frederik and Aussie-born Queen Mary, announced last year that their eldest son would be taking some time off before commencing his university studies to 'develop and experience the world'. Last September, the prince embarked on an extended stay in East Africa where he worked on two farms doing both practical and administrative tasks. Upon his return to Denmark, he began his four-month military service at the Guard Hussar Regiment in February, and this month he started his lieutenant training. 'The training starts in early August 2025 and lasts one year plus a subsequent period of practical service as a platoon leader,' read a press released shared by The Royal House. In the meantime, the young prince is enjoying some down time before his training recommences. Along for the ride is his sister, Princess Isabella, who was also seen at Smukfest. The 18-year-old, who is third in line to the throne, raised eyebrows with her choice of T-shirt with lyrics from Danish band Suspekt emblazoned on the front, which reportedly translates to 'f**ked him yesterday' in English. While some called Isabella out for failing to 'maintain a certain standard' with her choice of attire, others praised her and Christian for modernising the monarchy. Danish TV presenter Jim Lyngvild said her choice of outfit was 'the best PR move for the Royal House in many years'. 'I LOVE that our royal youngsters also have personality and courage – and don't follow the neat pleated flow,' he wrote on Facebook. 'The time of the ladies in the hat is over, Princess Isabella is in.' The teenager also broke tradition in April when sitting for her 18th birthday portrait. To mark the milestone birthday, Isabella wore a traditional ceremonial sash and a ball gown for the official portrait, however in one of the shots posted to Instagram, she was seen smiling while holding her mobile phone – a true symbol of her Gen Z status.

The tiny detail royal fans missed during King Frederik's 57th birthday - so can you spot it?

Danish royal tradition stipulates that a reigning monarch celebrates their birthday with a balcony appearance at Amalienborg Palace. But there was one small detail about King Frederik X's balcony birthday celebration last week that many royal watchers missed – and it was a history defining moment. For his 57th birthday, the King was joined by his wife Queen Mary, his mother and former monarch Queen Margrethe and three of his four children, Princess Isabelle and twins Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent. The King's eldest son Crown Prince Christian missed out on this year's celebration because he's currently undertaking military training. However, another surprise guest was more than happy to step in to Prince Christian's vacant spot on the balcony – one of Danish royal family 's pet dogs. The adorable border collie appeared on the Amalienborg Palace balcony while the royal family were in the midst of waving and greeting crowds of well-wishers. While it may seem like an innocuous royal family moment, the unplanned public appearance in fact made history. The impromptu display was both comical and historical , marking the first time a royal dog - or any pet - has ever made a public appearance on the prestigious palace balcony. The candid reactions and laughter from the six members of the royal family appeared to confirm that the dog's appearance was unplanned. The excitable pooch appeared to enjoy the grandeur of the occasion, even at one point sticking his head out in between the balcony pillars. When the dog first appeared, a surprised Princess Isabelle, 18, demurely leant over to pat the family pet. After instructing the well trained border collie to sit, Prince Vincent, 14, also demonstrated one of the dog's other clever tricks, by getting him to shake hands. The small but significant moment does contain one mystery with royal watchers unable to determine which of the family's dogs crashed the balcony appearance. The Danish royal family currently own two Aussie border collies - a mother named Grace and her daughter named Coco. Because the mother and daughter look so alike, royal pundits have trouble telling the dogs apart. Even Queen Mary herself admitted in an Instagram post shared in August 2024 that it 'can be difficult for some to tell the difference' between their two dogs. The Danish royal family's Instagram post of the King's birthday celebration included this behind the scenes snap of Princess Josephine patting the beloved family pet It's not the only recent appearance by the royal family's border collies at a royal engagement. Last month, King Frederik and Queen Mary brought Grace and Coco to the town of Fredensborg, where they greeted crowds ahead of the royal family's annual summer relocation to Chancellery House at Fredensborg Palace. On that occasion, Grace and Coco joined Mary and Frederik as they walked along the cobblestone streets to shake hands and greet well-wishers. The obedient dogs walked freely without leashes and one even joined the royal couple on the podium during a formal an address to the crowd. The Danish royal family have always had an affinity for dogs and were heartbroken when their previous border collie Ziggy died. In 2017, the family announced the heartbreaking news via their official Instagram page as they bid farewell to the beautiful border bollie. 'The dog has been part of the family for 12 years and was a wedding gift to the royal couple,' the 2017 post read. The 'faithful and loving dog' Ziggy sadly passed away following chronic renal failure and osteoarthritis. Just three months later, the royal family opened their heart to adopt a new puppy. A royal statement at the time revealed that their new dog Grace was 'related to the family's previous dog Ziggy'. A few years later in 2021, Grace gave birth to her own litter of puppies, which included their second dog, Coco. Over the years, Queen Mary has often shared her own personal pictures of all of the family's beloved dogs. The border collies have even featured in several of the Queen's children's official royal birthday portraits. The outdoorsy royal family are also frequently pictured being accompanied by their beloved dogs on walks and hikes. In a post marking International Dog Day last year, Her Majesty shared that 'Grace and Coco have a very special meaning for our entire family'.

Prince Christian and Princess Isabella of Denmark's relationship under threat amid reports of sibling rivalry

Queen Mary and King Frederik X of Denmark's two eldest children are growing up and coming into their own as royal figures. In recent months, both Crown Prince Christian and Princess Isabella have increasingly stepped up their public presence. But a new report suggests that the young adult Danish royals could find themselves increasingly at loggerheads as they grapple with their varying reception levels from the public. A palace insider told Woman's Day that Crown Prince Christian, 19, was allegedly taken aback following the outpouring of attention afforded to his younger sister Princess Isabella after she turned 18 last month. The palace source explained: 'It's normal for princesses to have more emulators than princes, so Christian's right to feel a little left out on the cold. But he's going to have to get used to it.' 'It was only a matter of time before Isabella would eclipse them all in terms of media attention,' the insider added. Royal watchers have now pegged the teen princess as one to watch. In just a short few weeks following her birthday on April 21, royal pundits quickly declared that Isabella was the 'ultimate modern princess'. All eyes were on the royal at a succession of celebratory events for her milestone birthday, with the princess applauded for her 'fresh approach, youthful energy and the modernity she brings to the royal family'. The accolades particularly began pouring in for Isabella after one memorable celebration moment. At her first birthday event held at Aarhus Hall on 11 April, Isabella took to the podium to give her first official royal address. Much to the surprise of attendees, a confident Isabella kicked off her speech with a funny and self-deprecating quip. 'Almost four years ago I found out that your words can be overheard when you least expect it,' Princess Isabella said, as the room erupted in laughter. 'Today I have no doubt that the microphone is on.' The comment referenced a terse moment in 2021 when Princess Isabella was caught on camera saying the words 'are you completely confused' to her mother, Queen Mary. At the time, Isabella's frustrated statement to Mary was made as the Danish royal family tried to arrange themselves for a photo op - with the candid mother-daughter exchange captured in a viral video. Isabella's bold decision to address her biggest public scandal head-on was praised by royal watchers, including Danish publication BT's entertainment editor, Fie West. 'Princess Isabella shows great initiative by starting her very first official speech with a joke,' Fie said, adding that Isabella had proved herself to be 'extremely charming'. The positive reception only continued in the following days when Isabella took centre stage at a black tie gala performance held in her honour at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen. As the royal family graced the red carpet, Isabella stood dead centre flanked by her parents King Frederik and Queen Mary. Next to them were 14-year-old twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine – and finally Crown Prince Christian. With his predestined future as heir to the throne, the latest Woman's Day report suggested it may be difficult for the Prince to fathom seeing a sibling shine. 'As much glory as it will be to sit on a throne, at the tender age of 19 watching as his sister is literally festooned with new opportunities, from profile interviews to modelling and speaking gigs is difficult for Christian,' said the palace insider. Meanwhile, as Princess Isabella enjoyed her recent moment in the spotlight, her older brother Prince Christian has been more quiet of late. The Prince is currently away embarking on months of military training with the Guard Hussar Regiment in Slagelse - returning only briefly for the recent birthday events for his sister and grandmother, Queen Margrethe. Prior to that, the teen prince spent several months off the grid in remote East Africa undertaking a "gap year" holiday in late 2024. While the latest report suggests there could be a brewing rivalry between the two eldest Danish royal siblings, it also addressed the extent to which their mother Queen Mary, 53, would be actively attempting to quash any sign of tension. Rather than seeing each other as adversaries, the report suggested that Mary will be advocating for her two eldest children to be each other's greatest support and allies. It's understandable that the royal mother of four would be on the front foot with any potential royal sibling rivalry issues, particularly given her husband Frederik's own personal history. Reports of tension, jealousy and sibling rivalry have been well reported for years between King Frederik, 56 and his younger brother, Prince Joachim. Joachim and Frederik are said to have endured a strained relationship since childhood, allegedly due to the now King being shown favouritism. That tension is said to have continued into adulthood, eventually culminating in the decision by Joachim and his wife Princess Marie to relocate their family overseas in 2019. The royal family still live abroad in Washington DC where Prince Joachim, 55, is military attaché to the Danish Embassy in America. The family rift spilled into the open in January 2023 when then monarch Queen Margrethe, 85, made the surprising move to strip Joachim's four children of their royal titles. Unable to bite his tongue, Joachim and his family unleashed a torrent of statements about the unfair treatment of his family. Margrethe later conceded that the situation was not well handled, but stood firmly by the decision to remove her grandhcildren's titles. Certainly, Queen Mary along with the Danish royal family would be keen to avoid any kind of history repeating when it comes to warring siblings.
