Norwegian Cruise Line canceled more than four months of cruises on two ships.
Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Breakaway will swap places due to 'a fleet redeployment' in 2026, according to letters sent to guests and travel partners, which the cruise line shared with USA TODAY. Prima will sail Breakaway's planned Southern Caribbean cruises from Puerto Rico, while Breakaway will offer Prima's previously scheduled Western Caribbean itineraries from New Orleans.
The following dates were impacted:
Norwegian Prima: Cruises between Nov. 15, 2026, through and including March 28, 2027
Norwegian Breakaway: Cruises between Nov. 8, 2026, through and including March 28, 2027
Your cruise was canceled: Now what?
The original itineraries will still be available on the new ships and will open for bookings on Aug. 8. 'As passionate cruisers ourselves, we know this wasn't part of your plan, and we truly apologize for any disruption or disappointment this has caused,' Norwegian said in the July 7 letters. 'We want to assure you that we're here to make this process as smooth as possible.'
Guests booked on the previous sailings will receive a full refund of their paid fare and 10% future cruise credits.
Cruise cancellations are relatively rare but do happen for other reasons, including full-ship charters or when a ship needs to go into dry dock.
