Terre Haute Mayor proclaims April 7-12 Shoe Bus Week
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Terre Haute Mayor Brandon Sakbun will be delivering a proclamation on April 7 in honor of a fundraiser held by the Terre Haute Women's Club.
At 2 p.m. on April 7, the mayor will be proclaiming April 7-12 as Shoe Bus Week in Vigo County. The final day of Shoe Bus Week will culminate in the Terre Haute Women's Club Spring fundraiser at the Hulman Center. This event is called the Cruise for Shoes: A Tasting Trip Around the World. The fundraiser will consist of six food and drink stations representing six different countries and supplied by local restaurants. As part of the travel theme, attendees will pick up a passport at the door and get stamps from each country as they sample around the world with food and drink pairings.
Once you've gone through all the countries, you'll end up in the main atrium, where you can enjoy Dueling Pianos from Poplar Pub, a 360-degree photo booth, a cigar rolling station, and a tour of the Shoe Bus. Several guests can win door prize packages from local businesses as well. Tickets for the event are $65 and can be purchased at this link. Donations can be made directly to the Shoe Bus Project at this link or by mailing a check to Terre Haute Women's Club, PO Box 3217, Terre Haute, IN 47803.
The Terre Haute Women's Club provides a new pair of athletic shoes and two pairs of socks for up to 1,200 children annually in the Vigo County School System. These are purchased with fundraiser funds by the club each year for children from Kindergarten through 12th grade.
