Crushology 101 ends with 0% ratings, fans call Roh Jeong Eui starrer ‘forgettable' despite promising start: 'At least it ended'

MBC's Friday-Saturday drama Crushology 101 has officially wrapped up its run, but not with the impact it once hoped for. The May 17 finale recorded a nationwide viewership rating of just 0.8%, according to Nielsen Korea, marking the series' lowest rating yet and capping off an overall disappointing performance. The romantic drama, based on a well-known webtoon, made a promising debut, starting at 1.3% and briefly peaking at 1.5%. However, it quickly lost steam, dipping into the 0% range and failing to maintain audience interest. Crushology 101: Interesting plot that failed to deliver Crushology 101 (written by Sung So Eun and Lee Seul, directed by Kim Ji Hoon) revolved around Ban Hee Jin—nicknamed Bunny or Bani—played by Roh Jeong Eui. Bunny, a top student in Yein University's sculpture department, enters a chaotic chapter in her romantic life after her first heartbreak. Once convinced that personality mattered more than looks, Bunny's dating ideals are shaken when her kind-seeming first boyfriend turns out to be the opposite. Things go messier when she finds herself caught between multiple charming suitors, including design department golden boy Hwang Jae Yeol (Lee Chae Min) and the chaebol-perfect Cha Ji Won (Jo Joon Young). There's very little room to go wrong with young adult romances, but despite the visual appeal and intriguing setup, Crushology 101 drama struggled to create long-term emotional investment, marking one of the biggest K-drama flops of 2025. Crushology 101 finale: Fans express disappointment online On the r/kdrama subreddit, viewers didn't mince their words in their assessments of the finale. One user wrote bluntly, 'Welp. At least it ended.' Another shared mixed feelings: 'The last couple of episodes were kinda unbearable… but the last episode was decent. They managed to redeem Yeol, at least. He apologised to Bani. And thankfully, no forced couple ending in the last 10 minutes.' Several others echoed the sentiment that the drama had potential but ultimately lacked impact. 'Alright but completely forgettable show,' one user said, while another admitted to watching the final episodes at 1.75x speed just to get through them. Many fans praised Roh Jeong Eui's performance and expressed hope that she lands stronger roles in the future. 'Really only stuck through it because of RJE. Hope her future roles are better and more meaty.' Following Crushology 101's conclusion, MBC will introduce its next weekend series, Oh My Ghost Clients, a paranormal legal drama featuring Jung Kyung Ho (Crash Course in Romance), Seol In Ah (Business Proposal), and Cha Hak Yeon (Castaway Diva) slated to premiere on May 30. Crushology 101 – K-drama Episode 9 Recap & Review

Heart Fluttering Unlocked Episode 9 of Crushology 101 starts with Jae-yol walking Bunny home. They say their goodbyes, and Bunny heads in. The following morning, Jae-yol picks Bunny up and they head to school together. Jae-yol's friends see the couple walking hand-in-hand and are surprised. Jae-yol officially introduces Bunny as his girlfriend, and Dong-ha feels proud of his friend. Bunny's friends are also happy for them. Ji-won tries to be happy for Bunny when she tells him the good news. A few months pass, and the couple continues to grow strong. Within a short time, they are already celebrating their 100th day anniversary. As for their school work, Bunny is doing well, and so is Jae-yol. On the home front, Bunny's parents are as loving as always. On the other hand, Jae-yol confesses to Bunny that he is trying to fix things with his mom. Bunny suggests he visit his mom when free. Everything is going well until that weasel, Bong-soo, returns to the university. Bong-soo gets angry when he wrongly believes Bunny is dating Ji-won, a chaebol. He attacks Bunny when she is working on her piece late at night. Simultaneously, Jae-yol calls her to check on her. He hears her screaming and rushes out to get to her. Bong-soo breaks Bunny's piece and is about to launch another hammer attack when Ji-won stops him. Ji-won saves Bunny and asks her to call the police. By the time Jae-yol gets there, the police are taking Bong-soo into custody. Bong-soo calling Ji-won 'Bunny's man' surprises Jae-yol. After the terrifying ordeal, Jae-yol walks her home and makes sure she is okay. The following morning, someone posts about the ordeal and refers to Ji-won as Bunny's boyfriend. People start commenting on the post, calling Ji-won a charming prince. They are all happy, thinking the confession tree from the festival worked its magic again. Bunny worries that the post might affect Jae-yol, but he lies that he is okay. With Bunny's evaluation coming soon, she decides to pull all-nighters to fix her piece. As expected, Ji-won offers to help. One night, when Jae-yol and Dong-ha visit to drop off some midnight snacks, they notice how close Ji-won is to Bunny. Jae-yol asks Ji-won to leave for the States or put a moderate distance between himself and Bunny. Meanwhile, Bunny starts to worry that her piece won't win, and she will lose the scholarship for her next semester. She talks to her parents, and they assure her they can handle it. Over the next days, Bunny dedicates herself to finishing her piece with Ji-won by her side. Jae-yol tries his best to be there for her, too. However, he worries about her close relationship with Ji-won. He asks her to text when she gets home, but her phone dies and she forgets about it. The next morning, Jae-yol tries to reach Bunny, but she is off. Out of concern, he visits her home. Bunny's parents warmly welcome him. Bunny is startled when she sees him at their dining table, but recovers quickly. After breakfast, they head to school, and Jae-yol expresses his frustration over Bunny not checking in. She promises to always tell him when she gets home safely. As much as Jae-yol trusts Bunny, his jealousy increases when he drops by one night and finds Ji-won lovingly putting a blanket over a sleeping Bunny. He approaches them and gives Ji-won a warning. He then wakes Bunny up and takes her home. She apologises again, and he tries to ignore his jealousy. The following day, the evaluation is done, and Bunny's piece is not picked. Of course, she is bummed about it. Before she can process it, she gets a call from her mom. It turns out her dad invested their savings in a scam. He trusted his friend, only for them to lose all their savings. Bunny grows more frustrated and wonders if she is being selfish in chasing her dreams. In the meantime, Jae-yol gets the good news that his team is advancing to the next phase in the competition they entered. Jae-yol excitedly calls Bunny, and she is happy for him. He invites her to a party with him, but she turns him down. She says she is tired and wants to sleep. Unfortunately, Bo-bae and Kkot-nim drag Bunny out and invite Ji-won. Bunny shares her family's financial situation and her worries with her friends. Instead of going out with his friends, Jae-yol opts to text Bunny and ask if she is open to having dinner together. His friends spot Bunny in a restaurant with her friends and call Jae-yol. Surprised, Jae-yol asked for the location. In the meantime, Bunny's friends decide to call it a day and head home. Bo-bae and Kkot-kin leave first, while Ji-won stays behind to wait for Bunny's taxi. As they wait, Bunny starts dozing off, and Ji-won places her head on his shoulder. Jae-yol arrives and is angered by the scene. He confronts Ji-won and asks him to stop crossing the line. The Episode Review Jae-yol's jealousy is valid. There is only so much he can tolerate before he blows his gasket. Ji-won has been using his friendship with Bunny to keep her close. He is positioning himself as the shoulder she can always lean on. It is understandable why Jae-yol thinks he is crossing the line. Bunny needs to stop acting naïve and face the situation head-on. She knows Ji-won has feelings for her, and she can see what he is doing. She needs to set her boundaries and claim her man. She should have clarified the post. Yes, she has a lot going on, but it would have taken only a few seconds of her time. As for Bong-soo, may we never see him again. The only thing we want to see moving forward is Dong-ha clearing his misunderstanding with Bo-bae. Previous Episode Next Episode Expect A Full Season Write-Up When This Season Concludes!
