CtrlS unveils eastern Indias first rated-4 data centre in Kolkata

Kolkata, Aug 12 (PTI) CtrlS Datacenters Ltd on Tuesday unveiled its first greenfield data centre in Kolkata in a major boost to digital infrastructure in eastern India. Located at Bengal Silicon Valley in New Town, the facility is the region's first rated-4 data centre, the company claimed. The campus offers 16 mw of IT load capacity in its first phase, and is part of a four-phase expansion plan that will scale capacity to over 60 mw to meet growing demand from enterprises, government agencies and hyperscalers, it said in a statement. The project is expected to anchor the city's emergence as a premier data centre hub, it said. CtrlS plans to invest Rs 2,200 crore to build eastern India's most advanced data centre ecosystem, the statement said, without disclosing the investment it made for the new facility. 'Eastern India is on the cusp of a digital leap, and with the state's visionary policies, we're confident it will emerge as a key hub for innovation and growth," said CtrlS Datacenters CEO Sridhar Pinnapureddy. CtrlS Datacenters to power BSE's critical digital infrastructure HYDERABAD: CtrlS Datacenters Ltd has entered a strategic partnership with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) to power critical data centre infrastructure for the premier financial institution that caters to over 11 crore investors and processes over 700 crore daily transactions. With trading transitioning to electronic platforms, reliable digital infrastructure has become essential for maintaining market integrity, ensuring transaction security, and providing seamless access to financial services. The strategic collaboration underscores the critical role data centres play in modern financial markets, CtrlS said. Stressing on the need for world-class technology that is capable of supporting critical transactions, BSE CEO and managing director Sundararaman Ramamurthy said data centre infrastructure is crucial for stock exchanges. CtrlS to invest Rs 500 crore in greenfield data centre in Bhopal HYDERABAD: Rated-4 data centre operator CtrlS Datacenters Ltd is setting up a greenfield 12mw data centre at Bhopal at an investment of Rs 500 crore. The data centre is slated to come up over a five-acre parcel of land allotted by the Madhya Pradesh government at the Badwai IT Park in Bhopal. The project is expected to generate around 200 jobs in a phased manner. The AI-ready data centre will be equipped with advanced cooling and security systems. At full capacity, the data centre is projected to generate an annual state goods and services tax (SGST) of Rs 7.5 crore and a central GST (CGST) of Rs 7.5 crore. The strategic investment will boost the region's digital ecosystem by supporting high‑performance cloud computing, AI, and data processing applications, Hyderabad-based CtrlS said on Monday. The groundbreaking for the project was conducted virtually by MP chief minister Dr Mohan Yadav on April 27, 2025, at Indore during the Tech Growth Conclave 2025 . CtrlS chairman & managing director Sridhar Pinnapureddy said the company chose MP due to its strategic location in central India. The company said the project strategically aligns with MP's ambitious policy framework, including the IT, ITeS & ESDM Investment Promotion Policy 2023 that offers up to a 25% capital expenditure subsidy and the Global Capability Centers Policy 2025 that is targeting over 50 global tech centers as part of the state's efforts to achieve a $2 trillion economy by 2047 by positioning itself as a destination for hi-tech investments backed by world-class digital infrastructure.
