'We believe that Martin Luther King Jr., among several others from the 1940s through the 1960s who left a legacy for us,' Birdsong said. 'They taught us how to do non-violent protesting, and is important in our democratic republic for people to have to use that option if we don't like what our government is putting out, that we let them know,' Cultural Awareness & Enrichment group member Jane Birdsong said.
The event was originally scheduled for the weekend of MLK Day, but due to weather it was postponed to the last Sunday in February.
