QNA Doha The Summer 2025 Exhibition was inaugurated on Sunday at the Qatar Fine Arts Society's headquarters in the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara), drawing a notable turnout of artists, intellectuals, and media professionals. The exhibition, hosted in Building 13 at Katara, will remain open to the public until September. It features the works of 78 artists, presenting a rich tapestry of creative expression that reflects the diversity of fine art in Qatar. The showcased pieces span a wide range of styles and artistic schools, influenced by various countries, civilisations, cultural identities, and aspects of heritage and social life, offering visitors a vibrant and immersive visual experience. Participating artists commended the Cultural Village Foundation's pivotal role in advancing the art and culture scene in Qatar. They also lauded the efforts of the Qatar Fine Arts Society in fostering and supporting local talent, providing a platform for artists to exhibit their work and engage in meaningful dialogue through high-calibre exhibitions that mirror the ongoing evolution of fine arts in the country. Russian Corner at Katara inaugurated with bust of first human in space

Doha General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation – Katara Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti on Tuesday inaugurated the Russian Corner in front of the Al Thuraya Planetarium, Building No. 41, in the presence of Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the State of Qatar HE Dmitry Dogadkin, along with a number of diplomats, cultural, and artistic figures. The Russian Corner features a bust of Yuri Gagarin, the Soviet cosmonaut and the first human to travel into outer space. This sculpture, created by Russian artist Alexei Leonov, pays tribute to one of the most iconic figures of scientific achievement in the 20th century. It was presented to Katara in 2025 by the International Public Charity Fund (Dialogue of Cultures, United World), in cooperation with the Russian Embassy, as a testament to the deep cultural and historical ties between the two countries. In a statement, Katara affirmed that the Russian Corner embodies a cultural and human dimension that reflects the shared values uniting peoples. It also enhances Katara's status as a global hub for cultural exchange and dialogue among civilizations. The Foundation noted that the Russian Corner is part of a series of artistic installations spread throughout the Cultural Village, including the Spanish, Turkish, Filipino, Ecuadorian, and Georgian Corners, which highlight the contributions of various cultures to the journey of humanity. These corners are the result of close cooperation between Katara and several embassies accredited to the State of Qatar. They embody the Foundation's mission to build bridges of communication among peoples through arts and culture. They also reflect Katara's vision of fostering understanding and human rapprochement, while offering a rich cultural experience to visitors from around the world.

DOHA: The Cultural Village Foundation 'Katara' has launched the 24th edition of the Katara Tech Forum under the theme Autism Spectrum Disorder: Innovation, Inclusion, and Quality of Life. The event was held in the presence of Assistant Undersecretary for Family Affairs at the Ministry of Social Development and Family, Sheikha Sheikha bint Jassim Al Thani along with a lineup of officials, experts, and pioneers in the field. Director of Information Systems Department at Katara and Chairman of the Forum, Thamer Al Qadi emphasized that Katara Tech, organized in collaboration with the International Business Council, serves as a dynamic platform for exchanging knowledge and expertise on autism spectrum disorder. He noted that the forum's three main pillars reflect its commitment to seeking practical and innovative solutions to enhance the lives of individuals with autism and their families. "Our aim through this edition is to present high-quality content that explores the latest technologies and methods that support the inclusion of individuals with autism in society and enhance their overall quality of life," he said. For his part, President of the International Business Council and General Coordinator of the Forum, Dr Mohsen Ali Al Ajmi highlighted the importance of raising awareness about autism, stressing that individuals on the spectrum possess unique abilities that must be identified and nurtured. Honorary President of the Arab Union for Private Schools, Dr Khamis Al Ajmi praised Katara's efforts in supporting autism-related issues, stating that children with autism carry within them creative emotions and thoughts that need to be heard and understood. The forum featured a series of key scientific and discussion sessions, including one on treating autism spectrum disorder and ADHD using advanced American technologies. It also addressed mechanisms for enhancing adaptability and effective integration into society. Among the highlights of the event was the launch of the "I Need" app, specifically developed to support the needs of children with autism. Discussions also focused on the role of educational farms in improving their quality of life, as well as the benefits of imaginative and tech-based play as effective tools for engaging with autistic children. One of the most notable innovations showcased at the forum was the "Nasem Watch", designed for Alzheimer's patients. Other sessions examined the role of traditional and digital media in fostering a responsible narrative around autism-related issues. Speakers underscored that autism spectrum disorder is a neurodevelopmental condition that begins in early childhood, affecting a person's interaction with others, communication, and behavior. It is characterized by challenges in social skills, verbal and non-verbal communication, repetitive behaviors, and restricted interests. The forum will continue tomorrow, Tuesday, with a focus on advanced topics aimed at supporting and empowering children with autism. The second day will highlight modern strategies for comprehensive care, as well as effective physical training programs that help improve their motor and social skills. Sessions will also explore the use of virtual reality technologies to enhance children's interaction with their environment and aid in the acquisition of new skills. The forum will further address the importance of healthy nutrition in modifying the behavior of autistic children and how dietary habits can positively influence their behavioral responses. Special attention will be given to showcasing best practices for integrating children with autism into mainstream schools, including a notable session on preparing children mentally and emotionally through daily routines and sports-based empowerment.

The two-day forum aims to highlight autism spectrum disorder through three main themes: Innovation, by showcasing the latest technologies and innovative solutions that support individuals with autism spectrum disorder and facilitate their integration into society; Inclusion, by discussing best practices for creating inclusive environments that address their needs and contribute to enhancing their interaction and community participation; and Quality of Life, by focusing on ways to improve the quality of life for individuals with autism and their families through integrated educational, health, and social programs. The forum, in cooperation with the International Business Council (IBC), will host a group of experts, specialists, decision-makers, and pioneering initiative creators, making it an important platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences and exploring opportunities for collaboration. Katara affirmed that by organising this forum, it renews its ongoing commitment to supporting community issues and hosting events that contribute to raising awareness and promoting a culture of inclusion and innovation.

Katara organises diverse events to promote environmental awareness

DOHA: The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) has organised a series of diverse environmental events to promote environmental awareness among various segments of society. The events, organised by Katara as part of its celebration of World Environment Day, included an exhibition titled 'The Story of the Earth in a Stamp', held in collaboration with the Qatar Society of Engineers. The exhibition showcased the stories of the Earth through postage stamps, which carried valuable environmental messages. Katara also organised the 'A Land That Tells and Eyes That Document' exhibition, which highlighted the aesthetics of the environment through the lenses of a group of photographers whose works represent an invitation to contemplate nature and a message to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the planet and its creatures. This exhibition reflects the importance of the environment and promotes collective responsibility to protect it for a more balanced and cleaner future. A number of photographers participated in the exhibition, including Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain, Hamad Khalifa Al Khulaifi, Mohammed Al Shaabi, Nasser Aqeel Al Emadi, Ali Saif Al-Din, Abdullah Al Muadhin, Abdulqader Allam, Wassim Al Khader, Faisal Al Jarkas, Saeed Mohammed Fayrouz, Mohammed Najib Nasr, Abdullah Abdulhamid Al Muslih, Khalifa Al Mansouri, Ahmed Al Fadala, and Jassim Al Maliki. The photographers took visitors on a contemplative visual journey through their photographs, capturing rare scenes of Qatar's wildlife, from birds soaring in the sky to vibrant marine creatures in the depths of the water, highlighting the details of nature. As part of a series of diverse environmental activities, Katara Art Studios hosted a series of workshops for children, including the 'Creating Plant Pots' workshop, the 'Creating a Luminous Insect' workshop, and the '3D Art from the Marine Environment' workshop, scheduled for next Sunday. The workshops aim to develop children's environmental awareness and enrich their knowledge, artistic and creative skills, thus strengthening their connection to the environment around them in a fun and interactive way.
