Ellen Pompeo says she was detained by TSA, bomb squad over sunflower seeds
Grey's Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo revealed that she was recently detained by the Transportation Security Administration when she was trying to catch a flight, all due to a snack she was bringing on a plane. 'I had a bag of sunflower seeds, like organic sunflower seeds from Erewhon, so they were probably the most expensive sunflower seeds money can buy,' Pompeo told Travel + Leisure in an interview. 'They literally held me for an hour, and they brought the bomb squad in.' The 55-year-old actor said she couldn't believe what was happening and thought it was a joke at first. 'They said it was most likely a chemical on the packaging of these super expensive, fancy, organic, clean sunflower seeds. My protein on the plane!' she said. Pompeo said she asked the TSA agents whether they could just throw out the sunflower seeds, but they said they needed her to wait for the bomb squad to assess them. Story continues below advertisement 'I almost missed the flight. It was really like no one would ever believe this! I was texting my publicist saying, 'I might not get on this plane, and you're never gonna guess why,'' she added. Pompeo also admitted that she is a nervous flyer and tries to lie low on flights so fans don't recognize her. 'People recognize my voice, so I try not to talk,' she said. 'I try to use sign language with my kids. The minute I open my mouth, everybody turns.' 5:25 Good American Family: Ellen Pompeo's 1st project since leaving Grey's Anatomy This isn't the first time a celebrity has had a run-in with TSA over items in their luggage before a flight. Story continues below advertisement 'We were travelling to Australia and Karl (Cook) ends up getting the pat-down every time we go through security,' Cuoco said of her now ex-husband in an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.'He's so unassuming, there's no reason why he should be getting a pat-down.' 'So the last travel, I walk in and he said, 'Something bad is going to happen. I know something bad is going to happen,'' she said, before noting that she told him everything was going to 'be fine.' Cuoco said the woman working at the airport asked who had the Gucci purse and she said it was hers, thinking she was going to 'get a compliment on my purse.' 'She goes, 'We need to look through your bag.' And I go, 'It's Gucci,'' Cuoco said. Story continues below advertisement She said the TSA agent went through her bag and found a wine opener. 'Like the arms one, like a rabbit. And I was like, 'Oh, my God! That's a weapon,'' she said, adding that her ex-husband had already been taken to 'another room.' '(I go,) 'Sorry, I don't know why I carry a wine opener.' So then in my big bag, I have all these little bags. She goes, 'We need to search the rest of the bags,'' she recalled. She said that once the TSA agent started going through all of her bags, she found a second wine opener. 'Somehow subconsciously I stuck it in there,' she said. 'I'm like, 'Oh, my God, I'm going to be on a no-fly list.' She goes, 'You can't have these on the plane.' I go, 'I know, I know. I just like alcohol.''

Kaley Cuoco is set to star in an edge-of-your-seat, suspenseful thriller for Prime Video, the streaming service has announced. Fans of The Big Bang Theory are buzzing with excitement as it's been revealed that Kaley Cuoco, famed for her role as Penny, is diving into a thrilling new venture titled Vanished. The upcoming series boasts an impressive cast including Peaky Blinders' heartthrob Sam Claflin. Set to premiere on Prime Video next year, Vanished will be available in the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Joining the stellar lineup are Matthias Schweighöfer from Germany, Simon Abkarian of Casino Royale fame, and Dar Zuzovsky, known for Corduroy. In Vanished, Kaley Cuoco steps into the shoes of Alice, whose Parisian romantic escape spirals into chaos when her boyfriend Tom, played by Claflin, vanishes without a trace. As Alice delves deeper, she unravels startling truths about the man she thought she knew inside out. The series is the brainchild of creators David Hilton and Preston Thompson. Tushar Jindal, Head of Content Acquisitions for Prime Video UK, expressed his enthusiasm for the project: "With Kaley and Sam leading an incredible cast, this gripping thriller will keep viewers guessing at every turn. "We can't wait for audiences to be swept up in the mystery." Since The Big Bang Theory wrapped up in 2019, Cuoco, now 39, has remained in the spotlight with roles in shows like 8 Simple Rules, The Flight Attendant, and Charmed. Off-screen, she's enjoying life with actor beau Tom Pelphrey, and they welcomed their daughter Matilda in 2023. Beyond acting, Cuoco has ventured into entrepreneurship with her pet product line, Oh Norman! Peaky Blinders star Claflin, known for his roles in The Hunger Games, Me Before You and Daisy Jones and the Six, is also making headlines. Prime Video has announced that production on Vanished has kicked off in Marseille, France, and it's set to be a four-part series. Big Bang Theory's Cuoco, who played Penny, admitted she was "in a state of shock" when she found out the show was ending. Recalling the moment Jim Parsons revealed he didn't think he could continue with the series, Cuoco told Variety: "I was so shocked that I was literally like, 'Continue on with what?'" "Like, I didn't even know what he was talking about. I looked at Chuck: 'Wow. I thought we were - I'm so blown away right now,'" she added.

Streaming service Peacock cancels show after two seasons - and fans are devastated
A Peacock comedy series has been axed after only two seasons, and fans are calling it one of the "worst things to ever happen". Viewers are up in arms over the abrupt conclusion of the show, part of a spate of cancellations by NBC impacting their Peacock streaming service. Four shows have been cancelled recently, but the termination of 'Based on a True Story' has particularly incensed its audience. Social media users expressed their disappointment with Peacock's confirmation that the show's second season would be its last. The NBC streaming service has so far removed four shows from its 2025 roster, leaving many wondering if more cancellations are on the horizon. This move mirrors actions by other major platforms like Netflix , Amazon Prime, and CBS, which have also ended fan favorites such as 'Mindhunter' and 'Blue Bloods'. The decision to discontinue 'Based on a True Story' after just two seasons has left fans in shock, prompting them to air their grievances on social media. The show featured Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina as a financially struggling couple who launch a true crime podcast about their plumber. Although specific viewership data for Peacock shows isn't public, 'Based on a True Story' was well-received by both audiences and critics, earning Cuoco a nomination at the Astra TV Awards for her performance. Fans of the show are still reeling from its cancellation. One user fumed: "ARE YOU KIDDING ME. ARE YOU ACTUALLY KIDDING ME?! IS NOTHING SACRED ANYMORE? IS THE WORLD OUT TO GET ME????? WHATS THE POINTTTTT." Another fumed: "This was my favorite show, why did Peacock have to get rid of it??" A third shared their disappointment, adding: "Damn that was a fun good show. Yes season two wasn't as good as the first. It deserved a third season though. The cast was great and funny. It will be missed." Messina and Cuoco starred in the much-loved show for two seasons (file) (Image: Peacock, Colleen Hayes/PEACOCK via Getty Images) However, some viewers were less shocked by the show's end, noting the diminished reach of its second season. A commenter admitted: "I completely forgot season 2 came out. Is it worth catching up on? Like was there at least some kind of resolution." Curiosity about the second instalment came from another fan: "There's a second season? I need to watch." A few opined that the series might have improved over time if given the chance. A user noted: "The sad thing Based On A True Story was like the perfect example of a show having a middling first season and picking up as it progressed. Like we could've had something here." 'Based On A True Story' became one of several victims in this year's pilot season cull, with networks clearing schedules to make way for new options. 'Mr. Throwback' also faced the axe by Peacock. Peacock has been approached for comment.

Johnny Galecki Makes Surprise Return to Acting After 5-Year Hiatus
Johnny Galecki took on a new acting gig, but it wasn't for a TV series or movie. Instead, the Emmy-nominated actor reunited with his longtime Big Bang Theory co-star Kaley Cuoco to shoot an ad for Royal Kingdom. In the 60-second spot, the former co-stars tossed out their board games—and a bunch of other stuff— and downloaded the free mobile puzzle app for a new twist on a traditional game night. For more than a decade, Galecki and Cuoco played Leonard and Penny Hofstadter on the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory. The show ended its 12-season run in 2019. While the Royal Kingdom ad may not have been the reunion fans have been waiting for, the actors had a blast shooting it. 'This was so fun to shoot! Back together with my buddy JG,' Cuoco wrote on Instagram. 'It truly was. XO,' Galecki agreed. The commercial marks Galecki's first onscreen acting gig since 2019. In addition to The Big Bang Theory finale, Galecki appeared in a 2019 episode of The Conners, where he reprised his role as David Healy, the ex-husband of Sara Gilbert's character, Darlene Conner, per IMDb. Fans had been hoping to see Galecki one last time to wrap up his character on the seventh and final season of The Conners. The series finale for the Roseanne spinoff airs on April 23 on ABC, but Galecki won't be a part of it. In an interview with TV Line, executive producer Bruce Helford explained, '[David is] very much mentioned, very much alive in the story. We love Johnny, he was always welcome, but he has more or less started life anew down in Nashville [following the end of The Big Bang Theory]." Helford added that Galecki's Conners character didn't have much to offer as his ex-wife has long moved on. 'Honestly, once you see the arcs [you will understand],' The Conners EP added. 'What we never want to do is just bring somebody in just to see that person on the show. We want everyone to have something important to play.'
