Odisha govt launches app to simplify land registration process

1 2 Bhubaneswar: The Odisha govt on Wednesday launched an e-registration app to simplify the land registration process and make it user-friendly and hassle-free. Launching the app, chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi said that the e-registration app is a major milestone in providing digital services by the state govt. "With the launch of this app, the revenue department is not only now closer to the people but also the process will be free of brokers and unnecessary delays," Majhi added. Through this app, people can book slots for registration deeds, apply for certified copies and Encumbrance Certificates (EC) and access land benchmark values using their Android smartphones from home. The app also provides complete information about sub-registrar offices, making the process entirely paperless and cashless, reducing unnecessary crowds at sub-registrar offices. Majhi also unveiled the one-year report card of the revenue and disaster management department on the occasion. "The state govt provided land titles to 16,727 homeless people under the Basundhara scheme and 20,385 govt primary, upper primary, high schools, and colleges received permanent land titles in the past year," revenue minister Suresh Pujari said. "Additionally, through a separate campaign, 4,61,602 accounts were surveyed and records of 1,16,486 deceased persons were updated in the names of their heirs, allowing farmers to benefit from various govt schemes," Pujari added. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Investire è più facile che mai BG SAXO Scopri di più Undo The revenue minister also mentioned that while around 1,000 new revenue villages were notified between 1991 and 2024, only 300 of them were included in revenue maps. Last year, close to 400 revenue villages were notified with all administrative inclusions. Odisha has been successful in managing disasters like cyclones and floods. During last year's Cyclone Dana, we achieved a zero-casualty target. Our disaster management skills are recognised globally, so we must always be ready. The achievements we made this year deserve all the praise, but Odisha must become the best state in India in providing revenue services. Therefore, we must work even harder," Pujari said.

CM asks revenue officials to resolve grievances at local level

1 2 Bhubaneswar: In a bid to streamline grievance redressal at the grassroots level, chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday directed revenue department officials to resolve public complaints at block and tehsil levels to the extent possible, eliminating the need for citizens to travel to the state capital. Pointing out that most grievances reaching his office can be addressed locally, Majhi emphasised the crucial role of tehsildars and other tehsil and block level officials in bridging the gap between govt and citizens through prompt and patient handling of public grievances. He was speaking after inaugurating a two-day conference of revenue department officials. Directing revenue officers to promptly address people's grievances, he emphasised that their offices should be 'places of trust, not fear' for the public. Speaking at the State-Level Revenue Officers' Conference, Majhi stressed that corruption would not be tolerated under any circumstances. "Dedication to public service and not the position one holds should be the standard to judge the govt officers," Majhi said. "The revenue department is a reflection of a clean and efficient govt. We have a policy of zero tolerance towards corruption," Majhi said, addressing tehsildars whom he described as "the backbone of the state's grassroots administration." He further said that no one would remain landless in Odisha, with those owning less than four decimals of land being considered landless and eligible for govt land allocation. He directed revenue officers to ensure effective implementation of this initiative. Highlighting the department's recent achievements, Majhi praised the successful handling of Cyclone Dana in October last year when 8.1 lakh people were safely evacuated to 6,210 shelters, thus, achieving the 'zero casualty' mission. He warned against irregularities in tribal and scheduled caste land transactions, stating that officers would face consequences for knowingly committed errors. He also urged officers to prepare for the upcoming monsoon season and follow meteorological updates diligently. Revenue minister Suresh Pujari called for modernisation of working methods and emphasised the importance of treating citizens with courtesy. The conference, attended by district sub-collectors, additional collectors and tehsildars, will continue for two days. Additional chief secretary Deoranjan Kumar Singh, chief secretary Manoj Ahuja and development commissioner Anu Garg spoke in the meeting attended by tehsildars, sub-collectors and additional collectors.
