SEC teams ranked from worst to first in odds of winning the national title
The 2025 college football season is less than two months away. This year feels as wide open as it has in a long time. A number of the teams projected to be among the best in 2025 are facing turnover at the most important position on the field, the quarterback.
11 of the 16 SEC teams will have a different quarterback than the one that started week one of the 2024 season. Two of those teams, Texas A&M and Florida found upgrades during the season by turning to younger, inexperienced signal callers like Marcel Reed and D.J. Lagway.
Five programs are banking on transfer quarterbacks giving them a boost this season, while programs like Texas, LSU, and Alabama will be relying on passers that have been in the program for more than two seasons.
The 2025 season will be here before we know it and here's how the SEC ranks in odds to win the national championship.

16. Mississippi State Bulldogs
Odds to win National Championship: +100,000
Jeff Lebby has a tall order ahead of him to get the Bulldogs out of the SEC basement. The offense can create problems for opposing defenses but there's still too big of a talent gap for Mississippi State to be serious contenders.
15. Vanderbilt Commodores
Odds to win National Championship: +50,000
Diego Pavia created some of the best moments of the 2024 college football season with wins over Alabama and Auburn and playing Texas to a one-score game. Vanderbilt is the team nobody wants on their schedule but they won't win the national championship.
13 (tied). Kentucky Wildcats
Odds to win National Championship: +20,000
Mark Stoops has been one of the most consistent head coaches in the SEC but he hasn't been able to push the Wildcats to the top of the conference.
13 (tied). Arkansas Razorbacks
Odds to win National Championship: +20,000
Taylen Green and Bobby Petrino helped the Razorbacks have an improved season in 2024. However, it may be too much of an ask to expect Arkansas to be a national title contender in 2025.
12. Missouri Tigers
Odds to win National Championship: +12,500
Brady Cook was the heart and soul of the Missouri Tigers, and Eli Drinkwitz is turning to Penn State transfer quarterback Beau Pribula to lead Mizzou to the College Football Playoff.
10 (tied) Auburn Tigers
Odds to win National Championship: +6600
Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers are hoping they can rebuild Jackson Arnold's collegiate career after a rough season in Norman. The Tigers have an impressive group of wide receivers, and the defense should be pretty good.
10 (tied) Oklahoma Sooners
Odds to win National Championship: +6600
We'll find out a lot about the Oklahoma Sooners when they face Michigan in week two. If John Mateer and the offense are productive, that'll bode well for the rest of the season.
8 (tied). Florida Gators
Odds to win National Championship: +4000
The Florida Gators are hoping the production D.J. Lagway gave them in 2024 carries over to 2025. Billy Napier has recruited well. However, like Oklahoma, the Gators have one of the most difficult schedules in America.
8 (tied). South Carolina Gamecocks
Odds to win National Championship: +4000
Former three-star quarterback LaNorris Sellers was fantastic in his first year as a starter and gave South Carolina the best argument among the SEC's three-loss teams to make the playoff with a win over Clemson to close the regular season. They'll need players to step up on defense after losing significant difference makers like Kyle Kennard.
6 (tied). Texas A&M Aggies
Odds to win National Championship: +3000
Mike Elko made a strong first impression in year one in College Station. Much of their success depends on the development of quarterback Marcel Reed.
6 (tied). Tennessee Volunteers
Odds to win National Championship: +3000
Tennessee is hoping Joey Aguilar can keep Tennessee in playoff contention after taking the hard stance of letting Nico Iamaleava walk.
5. Ole Miss Rebels
Odds to win National Championship: +2500
Ole Miss is facing a ton of turnover from last year's team that went 9-3, including going from first-round quarterback Jaxson Dart to first-time starter Austin Simmons.
4. LSU Tigers
Odds to win National Championship: +2000
The LSU Tigers have one of the more experienced quarterbacks in the country leading the way in Garrett Nussmeier. If the Tigers have improved their defense, they'll be a threat to win it all.
3. Alabama Crimson Tide
Odds to win National Championship: +1500
Kalen DeBoer had Washington in the national title game two years ago. Alabama disappointed in year one of the DeBoer era with losses to Vanderbilt and the worst Oklahoma team in over 25 years. Feels a bit rich for a Crimson Tide team relying on a new starting quarterback.
2. Georgia Bulldogs
Odds to win National Championship: +650
If there was a team worth betting on in 2025, you can count on Georgia to be one of the contenders in the SEC and in the College Football Playoff. Were Gunnar Stockton a little more experienced, the Bulldogs might have fared better against Notre Dame last season.

Odds to win National Championship: +500
Everybody's favorite team for 2025, the Texas Longhorns will be a disappointment if they're not at least in the national title game this season.
