Samaritan's January DAISY and BEE Award recipients
WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – Samaritan Medical Center has announced its January 2025 DAISY and BEE Award recipients. Samaritan's December 2024 DAISY and BEE Award recipients The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses® recognizes exemplary nursing staff, and the BEE Award honors other outstanding staff members who support patient care at the hospital and all outpatient clinics. The Award Recipients are as follows: Briana Gryglik, a Registered Nurse (RN) in Samaritan's Emergency Department, received the DAISY Award; and Janeen Lee, clinic office support at the Adams Family Health Center, received the BEE Award. Gryglik's nomination stemmed from a patient encounter while she was a Graduate Nurse (GN) in Samaritan's Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The person who nominated Gryglik expressed thanks for her attentiveness and compassionate care. Lee was nominated for the BEE Award by Donna Edwards, Operations Manager for the Adams Family Health Center: 'She is extremely patient-centered and puts so much effort into ensuring that a high standard of care is given to each and every one of our patients.' For receiving the DAISY Award, Gryglik was presented with certificates commending them as extraordinary nurses, DAISY Award pins, and symbolic sculptures hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe called 'A Healer's Touch.' A larger version of this sculpture has also been placed in the Healing Gardens at Samaritan Medical Center in honor of all DAISY and BEE Award winners. It was purchased using funds donated by the Samaritan Auxiliary. Lee was presented with certificates, BEE Award pin,s and gift bags with other tokens of gratitude. Both awards will continue to be presented throughout the year, and patients, families, or colleagues can submit nominations at any time. January 2025 OWL award recipients
WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – Samaritan Keep Home and Samaritan Summit Village announced the January 2025 OWL award recipients. The Outstanding Workers in Long-term Care Award recognizes exemplary staff who support the residents, their families and the caregivers at Samaritan's long-term care facilities. Samaritan's December 2024 DAISY and BEE Award recipients OWL award recipients: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Jessica Frazier at Samaritan Summit Village; and Housekeeper Heidi Doolittle at Samaritan Keep Home. Frazier was nominated for the OWL Award by a family member of a resident who expressed sincere appreciation for Frazier's continued care, kindness and respect. Doolittle was nominated for the OWL Award by a fellow caregiver: 'She is always willing to help anyone in need and does so with such compassion and empathy. She is personable and a stellar environmental services employee.' For being recognized, the OWL recipients received: A certificate; Special parking spot for a month; An owl pin; Special banner recognition; Badge buddy; and Various treats. The OWL award will continue to be presented at each Samaritan long-term care facility throughout the year and residents, families or colleagues can submit nominations at any time online. Samaritan's Nov. 2024 DAISY and BEE Award recipients The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses® recognizes exemplary nursing staff and the BEE Award honors other outstanding staff members who support patient care, at the hospital and all outpatient clinics, the Award Recipients are as follows: Taylor Kucharski, a Registered Nurse (RN) at Samaritan Medical Center's 4 Pavillion unit received the DAISY Award; and Karen Netto, a unit clerk at the medical center's Intensive Care Unit received the BEE Award. The family of a grateful patient who spoke highly of how the nurse cared for their loved one nominated Kucharski. They expressed how respectful, kind, and compassionate she was each time they interacted. Netto was nominated for the BEE Award by Rodney Dobson, a unit clerk at Samaritan's Progressive Care Unit: 'Her knowledge, helpful nature, and collaborative spirit are invaluable assets to our team, and she truly deserves to be celebrated for her outstanding contributions. Throughout our time working together, Karen has consistently demonstrated an impressive depth of knowledge and a genuine passion for sharing that knowledge with others.'
