Colleagues ask if Norton is still the best ‘warrior' to fight for D.C.
Several elected officials and allies of Eleanor Holmes Norton (D), D.C.'s longtime nonvoting delegate in the House, are publicly raising questions about whether the deeply respected civil rights icon, known as D.C.'s 'warrior on the Hill,' is the effective and vigorous leader the city needs as it faces escalating threats to its home rule.

Congress upended D.C.'s budget months ago — and still hasn't fixed it
In late April, about 30 D.C. residents held up traffic downtown outside a breakfast event. Their message was targeted at one attendee: House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana). '$1.1 billion dollars … are currently frozen, unable to be spent, sitting in our bank account, doing nothing except costing our communities the services we need,' Alex Dodds, co-founder of the group Free DC, which advocates for D.C. home rule, yelled into a megaphone.
