B-52s and Devo Announce Cosmic De-Evolution Joint Fall 2025 North American Tour

The 11-date co-headlining Cosmic De-Evolution tour will feature DEVO and the B-52s hitting the road together starting on Sept. 24 in Toronto at the Budweiser Stage, followed by shows in Michigan, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, California, North Carolina and Georgia before winding down on Nov. 12 at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion Sponsored by Huntsman in Houston, TX. 'But we were careful to say to our fans that we would still perform in special situations that don't require all of the awful tour travel. Our Vegas residency is going great, and when we were offered the chance to do a small run of shows with Devo, we all said this is an extraordinary opportunity we couldn't say no to.' Devo co-rounder Mark Mothersbaugh added, 'The B-52s had one of the best sounds of any of the bands out there in the late 70's early 80's – 'Rock Lobster' is one of my favorite songs – DEVO used to sing it to Booji Boy after DEVO shows. It was either fate or luck or the SNL anniversary that brought us all together to create this amazing chance to go out on tour. All I can say is Cosmic Devolution is REAL!' Both bands performed on February's sprawling, three-hour SNL 50: The Homecoming Concert, during which they took the stage alongside a galaxy of stars that also included Miley Cyrus, Bad Bunny, Eddie Vedder, the Backstreet Boys, Lady Gaga, Lauryn Hill, Jelly Roll, Brandi Carlile, the living members of Nirvana with Post Malone and Cher, among others. B-52 singer Kate Pierson said in the statement, 'When we first came from Athens [GA] to New York City to perform, punk was in full force… and New Wave was right on its tail! We loved all the New Wave groups, including Patti Smith, Talking Heads, Blondie and the Ramones. We also really dug the far-out weirdness of Devo, which seemed very in tuned to our sensibilities. We remember one of our first shows — amazed that David Bowie, Brian Eno, Frank Zappa, Allen Ginsberg, Talking Heads and Blondie all came to see us! When we opened the Mudd Club, we partied with Devo and really hit it off on the dance floor. Later, Brian Eno went onto to produce Devo's incredible first album… and now we will align again ! So put on your wig hats and Devo bonnets and get ready to party! This is going to be wild.' Bandmate Cindy Wilson also chimed in, saying, 'When both of our bands performed at the recent SNL 50 concert at Radio City, we started talking and agreed we had to do these shows. Believe or not, we've never done more than a festival or two together in all this time. This will be amazing and I can't wait for The B-52s to share these stages with Devo!' Both groups fronted by three original members are in the midst of what they have said are their final tours. Check out the dates for the 2025 Cosmic De-Evolution North American tour below. DEVO announces ‘Cosmic De-Evolution Tour' with The B-52s. Get tickets

Vivid Seats is the New York Post's official ticketing partner. We may receive revenue from this partnership for sharing this content and/or when you make a purchase. Featured pricing is subject to change. New wave is alive and well. DEVO and The B-52s announced they're teaming up for their co-headlining 'Cosmic De-Evolution Tour' with special guest Lene Lovich from September through November. While on the road, the offbeat rock pioneers — who both performed at 'SNL50' this past February — are scheduled to make a pair of New York and New Jersey stops. Up first, they'll swoop into Holmdel, NJ's PNC Bank Arts Center on Saturday, Oct. 4. Then, on Sunday, Oct. 5, the '80s-tastic twosome hit Long Island's Jones Beach Theater. 'COORDINATES CONFIRMED. These are the dates. These are the cities,' The B-52s shared via Instagram. 'Come weird. Come loud. Just don't miss it!' Upon further investigation, eagle-eyed diehards may notice the text 'one last orbit (maybe?)' on the bottom of the tour announcement poster. While we can't confirm what exactly is being implied there, DEVO has been in the middle of their '50 Years of De-Evolution…Continued' farewell tour for three years and The B-52s claimed they were calling it quits in November 2022 but have since headlined at festivals, performed in their hometown Athens, GA, conducted multiple Las Vegas residencies and put on a few one-off shows all over North America. Makes sense that two of the cheekiest bands of all time would goof on saying goodbye. 'I'm looking forward to 2073,' DEVO frontman Mark Mothersbaugh, who has scored everything from the 'Rugrats' theme song to Wes Anderson films, joked in an interview with The Guardian back in 2023. 'We'll play 100th anniversary Devo shows and then maybe retire.' 'In 2022, I swore I'd never get on a tour bus again' B-52s singer Fred Schneider said in a press release fo the fall tour. '…but we were careful to say to our fans that we would still perform in special situations that don't require all of the awful tour travel. Our Vegas residency is going great, and when we were offered the chance to do a small run of shows with Devo, we all said this is an extraordinary opportunity we couldn't say no to.' Fans can purchase tickets for all upcoming DEVO shows on sites like Vivid Seats; the official on-sale for the 'Cosmic De-Evolution Tour' is Friday, June 20. Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand. They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event. Mixtape turned me back into a Millennial teenage dirtbag

Mixtape is the answer to the question, 'What if the movie High Fidelity was a video game?' It's not a perfect analogy, but it's pretty damn close, and either way it's a sign that Mixtape is going to be a fabulous slice of late-1990s, early-2000s nostalgia, complete with a banging soundtrack. You can hear it in the trailers — Mixtape absolutely nails the classic Moviefone tone, and it seems that this vibe extends to the full game. I played roughly 30 minutes of Mixtape at Summer Game Fest 2025, and in that time I became enamored with the game's lead character, a rebellious and insufferably cool teenager named Rockford who's about to leave suburbia to pursue her dreams of becoming a music supervisor in New York City. She talks directly to the player as she introduces her two also-very-cool best friends and cues up the game's music, breaking the fourth wall just like John Cusack. Most of the game plays out in a third-person view, following along as Rockford and her friends casually skate down tree-lined streets, flee from the cops in a high-speed shopping-cart sequence, and hang out in her bedroom, looking at Polaroid pictures and CDs while planning the best way to steal liquor from her parents' stash. To view this content, you'll need to update your privacy settings. Please click here and view the "Content and social-media partners" setting to do so. Mixtape comes from The Artful Escape studio Beethoven & Dinosaur, and it similarly uses music as a core storytelling and scene-setting device. This makes perfect sense, considering the studio's founder, Johnny Galvatron, is a legit rock star based in Melbourne, Australia. Leaning into musicality also worked out well for The Artful Escape , which earned Beethoven & Dinosaur a BAFTA award in 2022. Mixtape 's soundtrack is populated by the top teenage-dirtbag bands from the 80s, 90s and slightly beyond, including DEVO, Roxy Music, The Smashing Pumpkins, Iggy Pop, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division and the Cure (but not Wheatus, as far as I can tell, just to be clear). Visually, Mixtape has a painterly 3D aesthetic with gorgeous golden light and purple shadows, reminiscent of Life is Strange or Telltale's The Walking Dead series. In action, the characters move in a windswept, Spider-Verse animation style that doesn't interrupt the gameplay flow. Even soaring down winding asphalt roads on a skateboard, Rockford responds immediately to controller input and her ride isn't interrupted by stray or late animations. Mixtape looks lovely and feels great. There are also surprising little moments with alternative mechanics in the game's first half hour, including a scene straight out of Wayne's World where you make the trio headbang in a car, and another where you control two tongues making out in a close-up, Ren & Stimpy kind of cartoon realism. When Rockford explains what a music supervisor is, real-world reference images fill the screen in a tongue-in-cheek educational interlude. Throughout all of this, the music continues to roll, each song purposefully placed and given time to shine. It would be easy for Mixtape to feel like a cheap nostalgia grab, an exploitation of Millennial players' memories of skipping CDs and pre-cellphone party planning, but that simply isn't the case so far. Mixtape feels like a love letter to the early aughts, filled with surprising mechanics, beautiful graphics and all the right references executed extremely well. Mixtape is due to hit Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2025, published by Annapurna Interactive.
