'Double-barrelled and proud': DJ Sbu's tribute to his father
Radio 2000 presenter DJ Sbu has decided to use a double-barrelled surname to honour his biological father. While interviewing Sol Phenduka on his YouTube podcast channel Hustlers Corner, DJ Sbu revealed he would henceforth be known as Sbusiso Gedla Leope kaNkosi and no longer as Sbusiso Arthur Leope. 'The surname Leope belongs to the father that raised me, hence I have Iziphandla (cultural wrist bands). I have been going through the name-change process traditionally,' DJ Sbu shared. 'My biological father, Mr Nkosi, has sadly since passed and he didn't pay damages to my mother's family since I was born. So I was raised by my stepfather Mr Leope. He's the man that married my mother. 'I loved both of them dearly but they are no longer around. I'm the man that I am today because of Ntate Leope.

‘We know he is the one' — X users react to DJ Sbu denying he is Mzekezeke
DJ Sbu has social media users reeling again as he denies he is the man behind the mask of kwaito star Mzekezeke. In a recent YouTube video, the Radio 2000 presenter said he wanted to acknowledge Mzekezeke's contribution to the industry by expressing his gratitude for all he had done. Sbu, real name Sbusiso Leope, said while people claim he is Mzekezeke, he is not. 'Out of all those Hollywood characters, he was a pioneer. He was a game changer and I drew a lot of inspiration from him and what we all did as a record label, but also what we all did as that kwaito generation. I'm glad the baton has been given to the younger generation with the amapiano sound which is taking over globally,' he said. 'I want to pay tribute to Mzekezeke. For me it doesn't matter who it is or who it was, wherever he is I am thankful. Until today people call me out on the street saying I am Mzekezeke, which is fine. I don't mind but I want to appreciate you my brother for making history in this country. I wanted to give you your flowers.' Reacting to the video, X users called out Sbu for his claims. 'So he is giving himself the flowers. It was a genius idea and he pulled it off. Kudos to him We know he is the one ozakhele uZakhele, ' wrote podcaster and Kaya959 presenter Sol Phenduka. 'DJ Sbu insists he is not Mzekezeke, which is fine, but why is he lying that he doesn't know who that is? If the artist was signed under his record label his name and ID number is there on the official documents. He knows who that is,' an X user wrote.

'I would have to be Superman to have pulled of Mzekezeke' DJ Sbu
Sibusiso Leope, widely known as DJ Sbu, has once again denied being the person behind the masked kwaito artist known as Mzekezeke. For over two decades, many South Africans have believed that Leope is the man behind the mask. In the 2000s, Mzekezeke emerged as one of the top-selling kwaito artists in the country before he seemingly vanished from the public eye. During a recent podcast, the 37-year-old musician and businessman acknowledged that many South Africans still believe he and Mzekezeke are the same person. 'It's a beautiful compliment when people say that. It's not a character, it's actually a human being. We did some great work together with Mzakesman, but I know a lot of people still say it's a rumour, they think it's me, which I think is a beautiful thing; he was ahead of his time. 'I would have to be Superman to have achieved everything that Mzekezeke achieved, 'DJ Sbu said when asked if he wasn't Mzekezeke. 'Mzekezeke set the trend, that's why you guys are wearing masks now. He wore a mask 20 years ago.' After a clip was shared on social media showing DJ Sbu denying that he is Mzekezeke, many users urged Leope to stop discussing the Kwaito star, as most people have already figured out that he is the man behind the mask. 'Mzekezeke is a brand that he generates separate income from. We all know he is, but if he admits it, then Mzekezeke as a brand would die, which he is smart for not allowing,' he tweeted @KapshunGoCrazy. 'This is so outdated, let's talk about something else please,' tweeted @enoskmoshapo. @sirmango_muvs wrote: 'It's funny how DJ Sbu and Mzekezeke had the same lips… they were both chubby with big asses at some point dj Sbu started losing weight and so did Mzekezeke. Sbusiso, that trick is too old.' Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211.
