Greater Noida To Get New Huge Railway Station Similar To New Delhi. Details Here
A world class railway station, with an advanced look and expanded space, is set to open at Bodaki in Greater Noida. Officially named Greater Noida Terminal, the station is being designed as NCR's gateway to the eastern part of the country. The officials claim it could be one of North India's most modern hubs and will be able to handle 100 trains, including Vande Bharat and other premium expresses, as per reports. The station's ground floor will reportedly be used for train operations and other associated tasks, while the upper stories will house commercial spaces, resulting in a mixed-use building. Connectivity between eastern India and Delhi-NCR would be facilitated by the news station, which is less than an hour's drive from the soon-to-be Noida International airport, reports added. Greater Noida Terminal will serve as a hub for commuters from Noida, Greater Noida, and other cities in the National Capital Region. The train station will be a component of the transportation hub, which will also include a local bus terminal, an interstate bus stop, and a metro corridor connecting Depot Station and Bodaki. The project's scope has changed substantially since its inception due to several design modifications. Officials stated that the budget, which was initially approved at Rs 1,850 crore, is expected to double with these improved capabilities. The master plan is being crafted by DMIC-IITGNL, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) jointly developed by NICDIT (Centre) and Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), each of which owns a 50% stake. According to officials, SPV would submit the blueprint for state government approval. The SPV will manage the project's funding and develop supporting amenities, including bus stops and utilities, while Indian Railways will supervise the construction of the station and other related infrastructure. When it opens, the Greater Noida Terminal will take in eastbound passenger traffic from Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, and other NCR areas, greatly relieving congestion at Delhi's current transit points, especially Anand Vihar. Once the master plan gets approved, the project is expected to be completed in three years, said officials.

Noida: The upcoming railway station at Bodaki — being designed as NCR's gateway to the eastern part of the country — will be called Greater Noida Terminal . Officials said this could be one of north India's most modern hubs, capable of handling 100 trains, including Vande Bharat and other premium expresses. Spanning 46 hectares within a larger 176-hectare multimodal transport hub , the station will feature 12 platforms and 63 yard lines for comprehensive maintenance operations. While the ground floor will incorporate railway operations, the storeys above will house commercial spaces, creating a mixed-use development. Complementing the Noida International Airport — which is set to start operations in a few months — the station, less than an hour's drive, will aid connectivity between Delhi-NCR and eastern India. The transport hub, of which Greater Noida Terminal will be a part, will integrate an inter-state bus stand, a local bus terminal, and a metro corridor connecting Depot station with Bodaki — serving as a convergence point for commuters from Greater Noida, Noida, and other NCR cities. With multiple changes in its design, the project's scope has evolved significantly since its initial conception. Originally approved at Rs 1,850 crore, officials said the budget was expected to double with these enhanced capabilities. The transport hub project gained momentum after being declared a special railway project in Dec last year — a move that streamlined land acquisition and subsequent approvals. According to officials, with the additional DM (land) appointed as the competent authority, acquisition for the project was likely to be completed within two months. The master plan is being prepared by DMIC-IITGNL, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) jointly promoted by NICDIT (Centre) and Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), each holding a 50% stake. Officials said SPV would submit the blueprint for state govt approval. While Indian Railways will oversee the construction of the station and other allied infrastructure, the SPV will manage the project's financing and develop supporting facilities, such as bus stands and utilities. The project will have two distinct parts — zone I (130 hectares) housing transit and commercial facilities, and zone 2 (46 hectares) dedicated to the railway terminal and associated commercial development. Connectivity has been prioritised in the planning, with the hub accessing the Delhi-Howrah railway line and connecting to major road networks, including a 60-metre arterial stretch and a 105-metre expressway-grade corridor. These links will facilitate seamless access to Knowledge Park I, NH-34, and Eastern Peripheral Expressway. When operational, the Greater Noida Terminal will significantly decongest Delhi's existing transit points — particularly Anand Vihar — by absorbing east-bound passenger traffic from Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, and other NCR cities. Together with other major infrastructure projects in the region, including the airport, Film City, and Medical Device Park, the transport hub is poised to catalyse economic growth and urban development in this economic corridor. According to officials, the project is expected to take three years to complete following approval of the master plan.
