Quavo Releases Posthumous Collab With Takeoff, ‘Dope Boy Phone'
Quavo might be making a call to heaven with his 'Dope Boy Phone.' On Friday, the rapper released the new song, featuring his late cousin and Migos groupmate, Takeoff, which is set to be featured on his upcoming solo album.
'Dope boy clone/Lookin' for a dope boy loan,' raps Takeoff in his verse. 'Lurkin' in a dope boy zone/I fucked around and found a dope boy phone/Fuck it, my n—a, we gone.'

On Wednesday, the rapper shared a behind-the-scenes video of himself creating the artwork for the single, which sees old-school cellphones covered in saran wrap. 'Cookin up a cover 4 DOPE BOY PHONE,' the rapper captioned the clip, which included a snippet of the new song.
Quavo previously said in 2023 that the late rapper had around 1,000 unreleased tracks between eight different phones. Although it's unclear if they'll ever be released, there have been talks about a posthumous album. 'I want to keep his stuff very, very, very sacred right now,' Quavo told Rolling Stone that year. 'Something about Take's verses right now is just like so ahead of his time. Every time, it's like he just did it.'
Following his death in November 2022 after being shot outside of a Texas bowling alley, the rapper has also been featured on 'Patty Cake' and 'Back Where It Begins' from Quavo's 2023 album Rocket Power, which was dedicated to the rapper's memory. (The pair also released the album Only Built for Infinity Links shortly before his death.) Quavo is gearing up for a new LP, and 'Dope Boy Phone' follows his collab with Lil Baby, 'Legends,' from last month.
