State weather bureau PAGASA on Tuesday stopped releasing daily heat index forecasts following the onset of the rainy season in the country.
''During this period, it is important to focus on providing accurate and timely information related to hazards and potential impacts associated with the rainy season,'' PAGASA said in a statement.
Heat index forecasts will resume on March 1, 2026, to coincide with the dry season.
Local heat index information and iHeatMap remain accessible on the DOST-PAGASA website.
''Nevertheless, for areas that are still experiencing hot weather, the public is advised to stay informed through official announcements from the relevant local authorities and take necessary precautions to ensure your safety and well-being,'' PAGASA said.
PAGASA declared the onset of the rainy season on June 2 after scattered to widespread rainfall had been observed in the past five days due to the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat). —Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
