Police offer cash reward for escaped cop killer suspect
Jabulani Thabang Moyo escaped from police custody last week when the two police officers who were transporting him from the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court to Boksburg Prison were killed.
The officers, a sergeant and a warrant officer, were gunned down in Roodepoort on August 8, but the suspect is still at large.
The Gauteng police are now offering a R150 000 cash reward for information leading to the capture of the fugitive who was awaiting trial at the Boksburg Prison for a business robbery case that occurred in February 2023.
The SAPS explained: 'While in Roodepoort CBD, the two officers came under fire and were disarmed.

'The sergeant was declared dead at the scene, while the warrant officer was transported to the hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.'
Moyo was, according to the police, later seen driving the police vehicle, which was subsequently found abandoned a few kilometres from the crime scene.
'He is considered very dangerous. Do not approach him,' the SAPS said in the appeal.
The police have opened two cases of murder.
'We appeal to anyone who might have credible information that can lead to the suspect's arrest to call DPCI Hawks investigating officer, Warrant Officer Rabosiwana, on 072 844 4442 or the nearest police station, or call CrimeStop on 08600 10111. Share information anonymously on the MySAPSApp.'

Condolences
The acting minister of police, Professor Firoz Cachalia, said the murder of two dedicated members of the SAPS saddened him, branding the shootings a heinous act.
Cachalia conveyed the ministry's sympathies to the affected families, 'We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the fallen detectives.
Their sacrifice in the line of duty is a stark reminder of the daily dangers faced by our police officers as they work to uphold the rule of law and ensure the safety of all South Africans.
'We owe them – and every officer who puts on the blue uniform – a debt of gratitude that words alone cannot fully express.'
Maximum resources deployed
The national commissioner of police, General Fannie Masemola, has deployed maximum resources to track down and apprehend Moyo.
'We condemn this brazen act of violence in the strongest possible terms. An attack on the police is an attack on the state. We will not rest until Moyo is behind bars.

'We urge the public to come forward with information on the whereabouts of Moyo immediately. No detail is too small, and your assistance could be critical in ensuring that justice is served.
'To the men and women in blue: we stand with you. We mourn with you. And we will continue to support you as you carry out your vital work on behalf of our nation.'
