Morganton man allegedly breaks into his children's home, violating protection order

MORGANTON, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A man is charged after breaking into the home of his kids, violating a domestic violence protection order, according to the Morganton Department of Public Safety. Around 1:20 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, officers received a call from a woman about a breaking & entering incident. The caller said her children's father, 34-year-old Oscar Humberto Eliza-Velasquez, had gotten inside the home and was in the living room. Officials said the caller and three of her children were hiding in another room and told law enforcement there was a domestic violence protection order (DPVO) in place. CMS math teacher allegedly used translation app to send inappropriate messages to students: Court docs When officers arrived, they set up a perimeter and were able to safely get the caller and her children out of the home. Velasquez was detained and found to be highly intoxicated while violating the DPVO court order. Velasquez allegedly also texted his wife throughout the time of the DPVO. Velasquez was charged with felony breaking and entering with intent to terrorize, violation of a DPVO, and domestic criminal trespass. He also had an active warrant for failing to appear in court on the original crime of domestic violence. His bond has not yet been set.
