Integrate yoga into daily routines for better health: Collector Sumit Kumar
Chittoor: Chittoor district Collector Sumit Kumar stressed the importance of integrating yoga into daily routines, stating that regular yoga practice can prevent many health issues. Speaking at a yoga awareness programme held at Puligundu village in Penumuru mandal of GD Nellore constituency, the Collector highlighted the significance of yoga in promoting physical and mental well-being. The programme, organised under the Yoga Andhra initiative and coordinated by the District Tourism Department, saw the participation of Chittoor SP Manikantha Chandolu as the chief guest alongside the Collector. They both addressed the gathering and stressed the importance of yoga as a part of daily life. Collector Sumit Kumar mentioned that yoga awareness campaigns have already been conducted at prominent tourist locations like Kanipakam temple, and the current event at Puligundu witnessed the participation of over 2,300 people. So far, nearly 2.5 lakh people have registered under the Yogandhra 2025 initiative, reflecting the widespread interest. He further noted that practicing yoga for at least half an hour every day can significantly reduce mental stress and improve productivity. He urged everyone to make yoga a part of their daily schedule and emphasised that 5,000 trained yoga instructors are currently available across the district to support the initiative. SP Manikantha Chandolu shared practical tips for maintaining good health, such as getting sunlight exposure before 8 am for vitamin D, eating a diet rich in vegetables, breathing fresh air, and combining these practices with yoga for overall wellness. As part of the event, experienced yoga instructors explained the importance of yoga and demonstrated various asanas. The programme was attended by District Tourism Officer Gowri, DRDA PD Sridevi, DSDO Balaji, Chittoor RDO Srinivasulu, among others.

Yoga for all: Kurnool hosts mega rally under Yogandhra campaign
Kurnool: Yoga plays a vital role in promoting good health, stated Kurnool Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ravindra Babu during a massive rally on Tuesday. The event, part of the state-wide Yogandhra Campaign, began at Kurnool Outdoor Stadium and concluded at Kondareddy Buruju. Commissioner Ravindra Babu said the Government of Andhra Pradesh launched this initiative to bring yoga into everyday life. As part of the lead-up to International Yoga Day on June 21, a record-setting mass yoga event is being planned at the Visakhapatnam beachfront, where five lakh people are expected to perform yoga in the presence of the Hon'ble Prime Minister. The campaign aims to reach two crore citizens across rural and urban Andhra Pradesh. A curtain-raiser event was held on May 21, marking the start of a month-long yoga awareness drive. Activities have since begun in Kurnool, engaging people from all walks of life, including children, senior citizens, traders, and employees. Yoga instructors have begun training Master Trainers district-wide. A five-day structured program began Tuesday, preparing these trainers to lead yoga sessions across mandals and municipal wards starting June 2. The Commissioner urged public participation in the campaign, calling yoga India's priceless gift to the world. He highlighted its global recognition and the establishment of June 21 as International Yoga Day. Regular yoga practice, he added, enhances overall well-being. The rally witnessed active participation from DSO Raja Raghuveer, SETCO CEO Dr. Venugopal, DSDO Bhupathi Rao, DRDA PD Ramana Reddy, State Yoga Association Secretary Avinash Shetty, Fisheries AD Ranganath Babu, district officials, and the general public.

Public participation is vital in Yogandhra campaign
Kurnool: Joint Collector Dr B Navya emphasized the importance of public participation in the Yogandhra campaign to ensure the grand celebration of International Yoga Day on June 21. She inaugurated and took part in the Yogandhra Rally held on Friday under the aegis of the District Civil Supplies Department, from the Collectorate to Raj Vihar Centre. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Navya urged citizens to actively participate in the Yogandhra movement. She noted that both the central and state governments are making elaborate arrangements to celebrate International Yoga Day on June 21, and this campaign aims to involve every section of the population. She informed that the Yogandhra campaign has already commenced, and with a month left for the main event, there is a strong need to raise awareness about yoga among the public. A mega event is scheduled to take place in Visakhapatnam on June 21, and as part of the broader initiative, the state aims to engage two crore people in yoga activities across Andhra Pradesh. Orientation training for master trainers will be held on May 24 and 25. As per the Yoga Protocol, five-day training sessions will be provided for trainers and three-day sessions for the general public. Prominent participants in the rally included Consumer Court Judge Kishore, DSO Raja Raghuveer, Municipal Commissioner Ravindrababu, DSDO Bhupati Rao, DAO Dr. Srinivasulu, AYUSH Department's Dr. KVN Prasad, State Yoga Association General Secretary Avinash Shetty, Consumer Forum President Shiva Mohan Reddy, IOC Sales Officer Rammohan, staff from various gas agencies, ration shop dealers, petrol pump dealers and their staff, and Civil Supplies Department personnel.
