
Yoga for all: Kurnool hosts mega rally under Yogandhra campaign
Kurnool: Yoga plays a vital role in promoting good health, stated Kurnool Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ravindra Babu during a massive rally on Tuesday. The event, part of the state-wide Yogandhra Campaign, began at Kurnool Outdoor Stadium and concluded at Kondareddy Buruju.
Commissioner Ravindra Babu said the Government of Andhra Pradesh launched this initiative to bring yoga into everyday life. As part of the lead-up to International Yoga Day on June 21, a record-setting mass yoga event is being planned at the Visakhapatnam beachfront, where five lakh people are expected to perform yoga in the presence of the Hon'ble Prime Minister.
The campaign aims to reach two crore citizens across rural and urban Andhra Pradesh. A curtain-raiser event was held on May 21, marking the start of a month-long yoga awareness drive. Activities have since begun in Kurnool, engaging people from all walks of life, including children, senior citizens, traders, and employees.
Yoga instructors have begun training Master Trainers district-wide. A five-day structured program began Tuesday, preparing these trainers to lead yoga sessions across mandals and municipal wards starting June 2.
The Commissioner urged public participation in the campaign, calling yoga India's priceless gift to the world. He highlighted its global recognition and the establishment of June 21 as International Yoga Day. Regular yoga practice, he added, enhances overall well-being.
The rally witnessed active participation from DSO Raja Raghuveer, SETCO CEO Dr. Venugopal, DSDO Bhupathi Rao, DRDA PD Ramana Reddy, State Yoga Association Secretary Avinash Shetty, Fisheries AD Ranganath Babu, district officials, and the general public.

Lucknow: In a bid to promote holistic wellness, Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya has launched a yoga camp which will continue up to International Yoga Day on June 21. The university has planned a diverse range of activities combining traditional yoga practices with modern engagement methods. The camp features innovative events like yoga dance performances and enlightening dialogues on disease prevention through yoga practices. "In today's world of sedentary lifestyles, understanding yoga's benefits is crucial. It's not just about physical fitness; yoga has proven effective in managing various chronic diseases," the VC said. One lakh people from Vizianagaram will take part in Yoga programme at Bhimili: Joint Collector Sedhu Madhavan
Vizianagaram Joint Collector Sedhu Madhavan directed officials of all the departments concerned to mobilis around one lakh people from Vizianagaram district and encourage them to participate in mega yoga programme to be held in Bheemunipatnam of Visakhapatnam district on the eve of International Yoga Day to be observed on June 21. According to him, mobilisation of one lakh people would be easy as Bheemunipatnam is very close to several mandals of Vizianagaram district. As the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to participate in the event, the district is planning to make it as a grand success and bring laurels to the district with its efforts to gather huge number of people for the programme. who visited various tourism spots including Thatipudi reservoir directed the officials to arrange yoga camps in a big way. Chintapalli, Ramateertham, Thatipudi, and other areas were selected for special yoga camps planned between June 6 to June 19. T-shirts, yoga mats have to be given to the participants. Spot registration desks are needed to be established at those selected places since many of them might have not registered their names in Yogandhra portal. Vizianagaram District Rural Development Agency Project Director Kalyana Chakravarthi and other officials assured Mr. Madhavan that the special care would be taken up all yoga programmes planned in different places of the district as well as Bheemunipatnam. Mr. Chakravarthi said that all the participants will be provided bus facility to reach Bheemunipatnam by 5.30 pm on June 21. He said that youngsters were keen to participate in the mega event.

3,000 participants enliven ‘Yogandhra' awareness event at Chandragiri Fort in A.P.
As many as 3000 participants, including Yoga enthusiasts, trainees, youth activists, students and general public took part in the ambitious event conducted by the district machinery at the famed Chandragiri fort here on Wednesday, to create awareness about the forthcoming 'Yogandhra' programme. The event, organised in the backdrop of the imposing edifice that stands testimony to the glory of the Vijayanagara rulers, who ruled this region with Chandragiri as their third capital, is part of the month-long drive to gather momentum ahead of the prestigious 'International Yoga Day' to be observed in a grand manner at Visakhapatnam. Chandragiri MLA Pulivarthi Venkata Mani Prasad (Nani), Andhra Pradesh Yadava Welfare Corporation Chairman G. Narasimha Yadav, Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) Chairman C. Divakar Reddy, Tirupati district Collector S. Venkateswar and Joint Collector Shubham Bansal participated in the event conducted under the aegis of the Tourism department. Mr. Venkateswar announced that the series of events pertaining to Yoga would be conducted at the mandal and village levels to sustain the tempo. Eight lakh members across Tirupati district have been enrolled by the village and ward secretariat staff to participate in the Yoga Day event at any place. Mr. Nani advised the public to spare a few minutes a day for Yoga and meditation to lead a healthy life and stay away from medicines. Citing statistics, he called mental stress emerging as a leading cause of deaths and appealed for regular practice of Yoga to stay a durable life.
