Balanga girl's statement recorded thrice
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police on Wednesday said the probe into setting a 15-year-old girl ablaze allegedly by three unidentified persons is 'in the final stages'. The girl was allegedly set on fire in the morning of July 19 near the banks of Bhargavi river close to her residence at Balanga in Puri district. Puri SP Pinak Mishra made the assertion while replying to a question over the delay in nabbing the culprits. 'The girl, who suffered 70 per cent burn injuries, is undergoing treatment at AIIMS-Delhi and is in a stable condition. A DSP-rank officer and the officer-in-charge of Balanga police station are camping at the national capital. They are carrying out a detailed probe and questioning those concerned to collect evidence,' the SP said. 'We have gathered important clues in the case,' he said. Stating that the police are handling the case with utmost sensitivity, Mishra said the victim's health condition is the topmost priority, and 'this was not the right time to speak about the motive behind the crime'. Sources said that police, in the presence of a magistrate, have recorded the statement of the victim thrice (once in AIIMS-Bhubaneswar and twice in Delhi). Her statement is considered very crucial as the police investigation did not indicate the involvement of three unknown miscreants in the incident, they said, adding that apart from a silver finger ring, the police have not recovered any material to identify the alleged attackers. Earlier, the police investigated the incident based on the statement of Dukshishyam Senapati, the villager who doused the fire and sent her to the hospital. Senapati had told the police that the victim said that three persons kidnapped her while she was walking and set her on fire. However, police are yet to get any clue on the involvement of three persons in the incident, sources said.

Security breach laid bare as gangster shot dead inside city hosp; police suspect recce
1 2 3 Patna: The killing of convicted gangster Chandan Mishra inside Paras HMRI on Patna's Bailey Road has raised serious concerns over the facility's security and surveillance systems. Five unmasked assailants reached the second floor, opened fire on Mishra, who was out on parole for medical treatment and fled the premises within 30 seconds. Patna inspector general Jitendra Rana said the hospital's security arrangements, including visitor screening protocols, were under review. "The mandatory frisking of all people entering the premises raises questions about the potential involvement of security staff with the attackers. The police will question the on-duty personnel to understand how the armed assailants gained access to the facility," he said. Bihar director general of police, Vinay Kumar, said around three dozen cases had been registered against Mishra, who was being treated at Paras HMRI. "It is now a matter of investigation how the assailants got inside the hospital premises. It is a very well-known hospital. For security, the hospital management has also engaged a retired DSP-rank officer," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo "Security guards are stationed there and even as a common person, if you go, there are several checkpoints and you cannot go beyond the main gate. So, it is a matter of investigation how the criminals managed to reach the room where he was admitted without any intervention. This will be thoroughly investigated. In the CCTV footage that has emerged, the criminals are visible and they have been identified. They will be arrested soon," the DGP added. Patna senior superintendent of police Kartikeya K Sharma told TOI that the attackers may have conducted a recce prior to the shooting. "One of the associates went to the hospital earlier for treatment and was aware of the frisking zones. The criminals were not checked at any security point, which is under investigation. It seems hospital security may have been involved. The medical officer who was on duty is being questioned," he said. "The accused avoided the lift usually used by attendants and instead accessed the building through a rear staircase. Before entering the lift, the attendant pass is checked, and there is proper security. But the accused involved in the crime used the staircase from behind, which is not widely known. This suggests they did a recce. They reached the room directly and carried out the crime," a member of the hospital staff said on condition of anonymity as he is not authorised to talk to media. On the question of whether security personnel were assigned to Mishra during his parole, Beur jail superintendent Neeraj Kumar Jha said a police escort was not typically deployed for regular parole. "He was already convicted. There are two types of parole – one for three days with police security — emergency parole — and the other regular. His parole began on July 3 and he was due to return to jail on July 18," Jha said.

Murder of liquor contractors: Dushyant alleges nexus between police, criminals
Chandigarh/Rohtak: Taking on Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini-led BJP govt over the murder of two liquor contractors and rising extortion cases in the state, former deputy CM Dushyant Chautala on Monday said a nexus between some police officials and criminal elements had led to this breakdown in law and order in the state. Interacting with media after extending support to agitating workers in PGIMS Rohtak, Dushyant claimed that two DSP-rank officers and four inspectors were colluding with anti-social elements, and both the chief minister and DGP were aware of this, but they remained silent. "We are ready to name these officers," he added. Dushyant said a lack of experienced officers in the police had also emboldened criminals, who were now operating without fear. He said the CM and DGP made "hollow statements" instead of acting decisively on the ground. "They just keep repeating that criminals should leave Haryana, but there is no real action," he said. Dushyant also expressed serious concern over job security of workers employed under contractual systems and demanded that all such workers be absorbed into Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN). He visited the protest site of 1,292 contractual employees of PGIMS Rohtak and extended his support. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Cuối cùng, chơi miễn phí game chiến thuật hay nhất 2025! Dushyant also alleged a major scam within PGIMS, claiming that fake names had been added to the employees' rolls and relatives of senior officers were being paid more than genuine contract workers. He said he will compile a list of such fake entries and write to the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), demanding a thorough investigation. Speaking about party affairs, Dushyant said JJP was actively working to strengthen its organisational structure. "A membership drive was launched on June 15 across 22 districts, receiving an enthusiastic response from youth," he said.
