London E-Prix Round 15 results: Nick Cassidy wins 3rd race of season 11, climbs into top three in Driver Standings

Nick Cassidy (Image credit: Instagram) It was Jaguar TCS Racing's day at the London E-Prix on Saturday. Fresh off his Berlin win, Mitch Evans started from pole but spun during the race and lost his lead. It was eventually his teammate Nick Cassidy who went on to win Round 15. The victory was even more special for Cassidy, who had announced that he would be leaving the team after the season wraps up on Sunday. He also pushed Taylor Barnard to fourth by taking the third place in the Formula E Driver Standings. London E-Prix Part 1 Formula E race results In a message to Jaguar TCS Racing after clinching his third win of the season, Nick Cassidy said, 'I take back every single little thing I said about strategy today because I got it completely wrong, and you guys got it completely right. It's an honour to drive for you. Thank you so much. That one was for you guys.' Cassidy was followed by Mahindra Racing's Nyck de Vries, who secured second place on the podium — his second of the season. He had started from the front row and managed to hold his ground. TAG Heuer Porsche's Pascal Wehrlein finished third, adding another podium to his season. He currently sits second in the Formula E Drivers' Standings behind championship leader Oliver Rowland. Maserati MSG Racing's Stoffel Vandoorne finished fourth, followed by Andretti's Jake Dennis in fifth. DS Penske's Jean-Eric Vergne came in sixth, while Mahindra Racing's Edoardo Mortara secured seventh. Envision Racing's Robin Frijns was eighth, Nissan's Norman Nato ninth, and Mitch Evans — despite starting on pole — ended in 10th after his spin. Championship leader Rowland finished 11th. Hits and Misses at the London E-Prix The race saw early drama when DS Penske's Maximilian Günther hit the wall right after the start, triggering a pile-up that also involved McLaren's Taylor Barnard and Sam Bird, as well as Lola Yamaha ABT's Zane Maloney. Near the finish line, Cupra Kiro's Dan Ticktum also crashed into the wall and retired from the race. Earlier, Ticktum had made contact with Mitch Evans' Jaguar, causing Evans to spin and lose his lead — ultimately finishing 10th. Jean-Eric Vergne on winning his second podium of the season Jean-Eric Vergne started from 18th on the grid and put on a great performance to finish third in the Round 14 race. Sharing his experience at the Tempelhof Airport Circuit during the Berlin E-Prix weekend, Vergne said, 'I guess I took it a little bit easy at the beginning, it feels nice to be on the podium, especially after the bad luck yesterday. I think another podium yesterday would have been possible, so overall I'm quite happy with the weekend. It was a strong one, and the team deserves a little bit of a reward. I'm happy for the guys, it was a good race!' Taking to Instagram, the French driver shared a picture of himself sipping champagne on the podium and captioned it, 'Was good to drink champagne in Berlin.' His fans and friends erupted in celebration in the comments section and congratulated him on his podium spot. One fan wrote, 'So well deserved, my eagle. Congrats to you and the team!' Berlin E-Prix: What's so special about this annual Formula E race

Image credit: Formula E Season 11 of Formula E is now nearing its close, with four races remaining across two venues. Next up is the Berlin E-Prix, scheduled from July 11–13. Berlin is the only venue to have hosted a Formula E race every season since the championship's inception, making it one of the most special events on the calendar for multiple reasons. It has been held annually without a miss since 2015, and its scenic venue — the historic Tempelhof Airport — adds to its charm. Here are some interesting facts about Rounds 15 and 16 of the Formula E season in Berlin. What sets the Berlin E-Prix apart One look at the Tempelhof circuit explains why the Berlin E-Prix is so special. With imposing aircrafts parked on one side of the barrier and a vast expanse of open space on the other, it's arguably one of the most picturesque tracks in motorsport. Formula E cars are second only to airplanes when it comes to reaching top speeds — hitting 322 km/h in less than a minute. The most distinctive aspect of the Tempelhof Airport circuit is that it was originally designed for airplanes to take off and land, making it a unique surface for electric racing. What's challenging about the Tempelhof Circuit? The surface of the 2.343 km-long Tempelhof circuit is composed of layered concrete slabs designed for aircraft operations. While it supports Formula E racing, it presents challenges in energy management, tyre wear, and grip. The hot summer temperatures in Berlin can further test the drivers. Despite that, the wide layout, long corners, and even an indoor tunnel make the track exciting and full of overtaking opportunities. Past Berlin E-Prix winners The Berlin E-Prix is a home race for DS Penske driver Maximilian Gunther. He won the event in 2020 and secured a third-place finish in 2023. The German driver recently expressed his excitement on Instagram. Reflecting on the Jakarta race, Gunther wrote, 'Didn't go our way this Saturday in Jakarta. Thanks for all the love, Indonesia. Now all eyes on Berlin – my home race.' However, it is TAG Heuer Porsche's Antonio Felix da Costa who holds the record for the most Berlin E-Prix wins, having triumphed three times — twice in 2020 and once in 2024. Envision Racing's Sebastien Buemi, Lola Yamaha ABT's Lucas di Grassi, and TCS Jaguar Racing's Nick Cassidy have each won the race twice. Oliver Rowland currently leads the Formula E World Championship in the Driver Standings. Game On Season 1 continues with Mirabai Chanu's inspiring story. Watch Episode 2 here.
